Adding some of these houseplants to your bedroom can make a big difference and they're pretty easy to keep alive too.
Speaking to, Dr Katherine Hall, the sleep psychologist at explained why plants work so well in bedrooms.
She said: "Many studies have shown that the presence of plants in a bedroom can create many sleep-inducing benefits."
These benefits include helping "lower a person’s cortisol levels by releasing oxygen at night, which helps clear the mind and relax the body," she explained.
Not only that but plants are known to "improve the ventilation and humidity of a room" so it's easier to breathe.

Snake plant
This low-maintenance plant doesn't need much attention to thrive in your home.
Snake plants are a great option for beginners, the pro explained, since they don't need direct sunlight and minimal watering, so are a good choice if your bedroom is more on the shady side too.
There are plenty of ways you can style them to match whatever interior style you like too, from boho hanging pots to posh ceramic planters.
Spider plant
This stunning plant is perfect for bedrooms and will look stylish no matter what.

The pro said: "They don’t love direct sunlight, so opt for a location with medium light and only water them when the top inches of soil feel dry.”
Aloe vera
You might not realise how handy this plant really is - it's used for medicine but it turns out it can also "improve air purity and quality" in any room.
As a succulent, this plant requires very little water. In fact you can you can go weeks without needing to worry about it, especially during winter.
Peace lily
Known to filter out airborne toxins, the peace lily is perhaps the most stylish plant thanks to it's stunning blooms.
Although they thrive in indirect light, they don't mind a sunny spot either - just keep the soil moist and you'll have a stunning plant and a great night's sleep.
They can also grow a lot bigger than some other the other options, so make sure to check they still fit in their pot regularly.
Lavender plant
It's probably unsurprising this plant made this list, since lavender is known for it's relaxing scent.
The pro suggested keeping it close to your bed to really feel the benefit.

You can buy smaller plants to fit on your bedside table, or opt of a larger plant to keep nearby.
"Lavender plants like warmer, brighter spots, so make sure your plant is close to a window where it can get plenty of sunshine, ideally it needs at least eight hours of sun a day to thrive," the expert explained.
