I let a friend tattoo my eyebrows for free but it went so wrong – they were like slugs and I spent £1.2K fixing them
A YOUNG woman has been left with permanently-mangled eyebrows after getting free microblading.
Katy Adams learnt the hard way that a botched job can ruin your face and confidence.
The 22-year-old “jumped at the chance” to get the free treatment after a friend-of-a-friend was looking to build her experience tattooing brows.
But the technician created slug brows and deposited the ink too deep in Katy’s skin.
The mangled tattooing has created a permanent tinge on Katy's left eyebrow that she has shelled out £1,200 trying to get rid of.
Microblading is a form of a semi-permanent makeup done with a handheld tool with fine needles.
The needles are used to hand draw each individual hair and deposit pigment into the skin.
Unfortunately, under the needle was far from beautifying and she is still paying the price over three years later.
Due to the ink being deposited too deep in her skin, the tatted brows melted into one block of colour and made her “look constantly angry”.
The dark colouring also accentuated the botched job against her blonde hair.

What's more, the brows were each different shapes and the technician had failed to create an ombré effect, leaving Katy with dark dots at the start of each brow.
Katy's dreams of fluffy-looking brows that don’t budge were shot down seconds after her treatment finished in 2019.
She said: “I instantly regretted my decision and just wanted to get home and hide.
“The main issue for me was how unequal they were, which had changed the framing of my face completely.
“The shape made me look constantly angry.
“There were even two little dots at the front where the ombré effect had gone wrong."
The student from Milton Keynes was too embarrassed to show her face in public for a number of years.
She has since shelled out £1,200 on corrective work after trying home remedies such as scrubbing lemon juice and salt on her face.
Katy also tried monthly saline removal sessions - where a tattoo gun with salt and water is used to lift the ink - but it turned her brows blue and grey.
She said: “In 2021, I had two sessions of laser removal which removed the dark ink but left me with the red ink undertone.
“By 2022, I was so insecure about my eyebrows that I found a specialist laser removal for semi-permanent makeup.
“I had in-depth consultation and eight additional sessions for laser tattoo removal.
“I was told that the tattooing had gone too deep into my left eyebrow, so would never go back to normal.”
The botched microblading has left Katy with an orange tint in her left brow that will likely never lift.
However, she has turned her horrifying experience into a positive one by helping women with similar experiences to her.
Katy said: “Learning from my unfortunate experience, I built a thriving eyebrow business of my own called the .
“I offer a range of natural and temporary brow treatments that embrace natural beauty, such as HD Brows and Brow Lamination.
“I also help women with experiences similar to mine, by rectifying semi-permanent brows using Henna Tint to reshape and colour-correct their faded brows.
“I will continue to spread awareness of the experience I went through, through my business, to ensure no one has to go through what I did.”
