I picked the perfect name for my baby but it’s also a laxative brand – trolls say I can’t use it but it’s not that bad
Picking a baby name is always about personal preference, some want a unique name while others want to keep it traditional.
But one mum has left people online stunned after she revealed she still wanted to use the baby name she picked out - even though it was the same as a laxative brand.
Taking to Reddit, the anonymous mum revealed she didn't think the moniker she picked out was that bad.
But many people warned her not to use it.
In the post, she wrote: "Looking for feedback on the name Senna.
"We originally were set on this name and LOVED it until I read a post on here about it being a laxative."
Senna glycoside, also known as sennoside or senna, is a medication used to treat constipation.
The mum added that friends and family didn't associate the name with the medication so wondered if she could still use it.
She continued: "Friends and family that we shared this name with did not know the association to the laxative either until we told them.
"Now we are torn.. is it really that bad?"
The post soon went viral and hundreds of people took to the comments to share their thoughts.
Many urged the mum to rethink the name.
One wrote: "I instantly think laxative. If you just Google "Senna" and nothing else, the first hits are about the laxative. 'Nuff said."
Another person commented: "I immediately thought of the laxative, I’m in the UK. What about Serena?"
"It sounds like you just forgot how to spell Sienna. I don’t like it," remarked a third.
A fourth penned: "Yes it’s really that bad. It’s a laxative."
Meanwhile, a fifth claimed: "Yes and it will be glaring when you’re shopping for stool softeners after you have your baby."
Some were more supportive, one added: "It's too bad about the laxative because I think Senna is FAR better than Sienna."
