CURTAIN CALL

My 10-year-old daughter shares a room with her sister but wants her own space – I’ve given it to her with my clever hack

A MUM has been praised for her clever hack after her eldest daughter complained about having to share a bedroom with her sister.

Lex took to Instagram to share a Reel explaining the room transformation, revealing that she had to use her imagination and DIY skills to come up with a solution to the problem.

But not everyone was convinced by the ‘hack’

“My 10-year-old and 8-year-old daughters, who are 22 months apart, share a bedroom,” she wrote over the video, which showed the bedroom with two bunk beds in it.

“My oldest daughter wants her own room so bad.

“Unfortunately that’s not going to happen.”

“So I’m DIYING a curtain to give them their own space in their bedroom,” she added.

She showed herself using an extendable curtain pole and colourful curtains to create a divide down the centre of the room.

“This was so fun to make!” Lex added in the caption.

“This is a cute idea. Can probably even be done in their college dorms,” one person commented on the video.

“Great idea!” another wrote.

“Great work, Love the idea…well done,” a third commented.

As someone else added: “Me my hubby and son share a one bedroom.

“We did the same thing in our room so that we can have that tiny bit of separation and privacy.

“Good on you for giving your girls that.”

But not everyone was as complimentary about the solution, with one writing: “That’s the best you could do?

“Lol I’ve seen lots of designs to redo a space for privacy.”

“Sharing a room isn’t going to ruin someone’s life for siblings,” another added.

“I didn’t have my own room until I was an adult. Did it get annoying?

“Yes, but I had a roof and a warm bed. S**t happens.”

“Why do people get more kids than there are rooms?” a third wrote.

“It will always come the time they want some personal space and there own room and I think it’s pretty understandable.”
