Prince Harry reveals the bizarre present Princess Margaret once gave him for Christmas
PRINCESS Margaret “didn’t have much of an opinion” of Prince Harry and once gave him a biro pen for Christmas, he claims.
He said the late Queen’s younger sister — who died in 2002 aged 71 — “could kill a house plant with one scowl”.
And she was “almost a complete stranger” to him, he wrote in his book, Spare.
He added: “Growing up, I felt nothing for her except a bit of pity and a lot of jumpiness.
“Mostly, whenever she was around I kept my distance.
“On those rarer-than-rare occasions when our paths crossed, when she deigned to take notice of me, to speak to me, I’d wonder if she had any opinion of me.
“It seemed that she didn’t. Or else, given her tone, her coldness, the opinion wasn’t much.”
Harry recalled one Christmas at the Queen’s Sandringham retreat in Norfolk when he was given a biro with a “tiny rubber fish wrapped around it”.
