THERE’S no denying she’s a national treasure, but actress Emma has never been considered a style icon – until now.

The Love Actually star used to go for oversized coats, shirts and trousers in sludgy colours that looked like they were borrowed from a teenage boy.

Now at 63, she’s got it nailed. She’s still into baggy but it comes in brighter colours with a tailored twist.

Her jackets have curve-flattering silhouettes and her trousers are high-waisted in sharp lines.

These softer tailored shapes can be worn with flats or heels and are easy to throw together.

YOU can always count on red-carpet regular Viola Davis to pack a powerful punch of colour to any event.

Whether it’s an awards ceremony or at the premiere of her recent hit, , pictured, the 57-year-old Oscar-winning actress stands out in vivid hues.

In the early days of her career, she favoured duller shades, but as her stylist Elizabeth Stewart said: “We wanted to be strong, simple and bold.”

Mission accomplished.

FOUR Weddings And A Funeral’s Andie admits she used to dress down like she wanted to be invisible.

Not any more – as well as embracing going grey, the actress has emerged as a style icon at 64.

“I just feel so much more confident in my skin and comfortable with my age,” she said this summer, after strutting the runway at Paris Fashion Week in a champagne-coloured gown.

The lesson? Don’t be afraid to be bold and daring with your style.

FROM Basic Instinct to Casino, Sharon Stone was Hollywood’s quintessential femme fatale in the Nineties.

But in her twenties, she used to hide her body under baggy blazers and trousers, and was told she didn’t have what it takes to make it.

“People used to say they couldn’t hire me because I wasn’t hot,” she said.
