Help the planet by swapping plastic shower gel bottles for these bars of soap

WANT to reduce your environmental impact?
Ditch plastic shower gel bottles and switch to a bar of soap instead.
This week I’ve looked at the bars in a box that claim to do your dirty work . . .
Budget
Beauty Kin Exfoliating Body Bar (£7.93 for 150g, ):
This is a chunky bar of soap that contains lactic acid to exfoliate dead skin cells and encourage ceramides production, ground olive stone to unclog the pores, squalane to hydrate and grapefruit for a clean smell.
I loved this.
There was no need for a mitt or glove to scrub.
Because it isn’t as dinky as the others, you can fit it in the palm of your hand and get to work.
This isn’t a multitasker but I loved it.

My skin felt baby-smooth afterwards.
It was my favourite – and the cheapest.
Mid-range
Childs Farm body wash bar blueberry & organic mango (£8 for 60g, ):
This contains hydrogenated vegetable oil, glycerin, shea butter, coconut oil and mango extract.
It smelt fruity and amazing.
The soap-free formula is developed for the most sensitive skin – even children.
So if you want one bar in the bathroom, try this.
It’s soft and creamy, and lathers really well.
Perfect for all the family.
The company says that each bar holds up to 60 washes, which is the same as two of their 250ml bottles.
But if you leave them in a wet soap dish they start to melt away.
In fact, all the bars I tested need to dry out in between each use or the same thing will happen.
Luxury
No Secrets Solo Hair, Hand & Body Bar (£8 for 50g, ):
Billed as a plant-based nourishing hair and body bar and infused with essential oils – with not a drop of palm oil or plastic.
It comes in four scents.
I tried Solo Four – Sensual and Calming, which is a blend of geranium, neroli, ylang ylang, patchouli, and lavender.
I was dubious about using a bar of soap on my hair but it lathers and then rinses well.
I still needed to use my conditioner afterwards but this is the perfect bar to have in your overnight or gym bag.
A great multitasker and it smells gorgeous.
Pick of the week
Boots is ready for its biggest Black Friday ever.
