I’m a cleaning pro – how to get car seats & prams spotless & crumb-free in under 30 mins
SCRUBBING your child’s car seat or pram clean of stains or crumbs can seem like a daunting job, but it doesn’t have to be.
In fact, you can tackle the task in less than 30 minutes using one single product and you’ll end up with near-new items.
One UK-based mum swears by the carwash for fuss-free cleaning and insists it’s the easiest way to get her child’s pram spotless.
And while many loved the tip, which she shared on TikTok, there is another way.
Zornitsa Stoyanova, reckons hot soapy water is all you need, and it can be done in no time.
For your car seat, start by removing the seat from the car. Follow this by vacuuming the chair, she tells Fabulous.

“This way, you will remove all the food crumbs or debris,” says Zornitsa, who is the Regional Director in the Kingston upon Thames area.
Then continue washing your kid’s car seat with a mixture of soap and water.
“This solution is enough to remove any dirt and sticky residue from the fabric,” she says. But there’s a catch.
“To maintain a clean kid’s car seat, I’d advise you to wash it at least once every two weeks,” she says.

If the thought of regular cleaning makes you shudder, you may need a more robust cleaner to tackle any stains.
If this is the case, ensure you choose a baby-safe product and “focus on effectiveness,” says Zornitsa, and know “how the chemical will react with your kid’s skin”.
Alternatively, others have used a hand-held portable upholstery cleaner with spectacular results. This, however, comes with a hefty upfront cost.
While the fabric is drying, preferably in the sun, use soapy water again to wash all buckles and straps.
“Once everything is fully dry, reinstall the car seat back,” she advises, and it’s as simple as that.
The same method can be applied to prams as well, so there’s no need to spend your hard-earned cash on an array of pricey products.
But of course, the best way to avoid the mess is to…
“Avoid giving your child snacks or drinks unless you are on a long car trip,” says Zornitsa.

“That way, you will keep the car seat for your kid cleaner and tidier for longer.”
Although this is easier said than done.
