Harry and Meghan are poor by Hollywood standards… Elon Musk is single if Meg wants to trade up, claims royal writer

PRINCE Harry and Meghan Markle are poor by Hollywood standards, claims a royal writer who joked the Duchess may like to set her sights on Elon Musk.

Tina Brown suggested the Duchess of Sussex may want to consider trading up her husband following reports Meghan is house-hunting in California.

Meghan and Harry are in the market for a "private estate" in Hope Ranch - an affluent area not too far from their current property in Montecito, according to .

Brown, who wrote The Diana Chronicles and The Palace Papers, was responding to news of Meghan's interest in a new home when hinted it might not be the only thing the mother of Archie and Lilibet is considering replacing.

She said: "Yes, and at some point it might be more than a new house she’s looking for. Elon Musk is still single, that’s all I have to say.”

The author went on to say the pair may be struggling to fit in with the luxurious lifestyles of their mega-wealthy neighbours, the reported.

She said: “It’s not very pleasant to be a D-list celebrity who, for them, doesn’t have enough money. It’s a wholly different game to be with those super-rich people.

“In Montecito, where they live, their $14 million mansion is a humble cottage compared to what these other people have.”

While writing The Palace Papers, Brown spoke with many insiders who had knowledge of the inner-workings of the Royal family.

She believes Harry and Meghan are now embroiled in some sort of drama over an obligation to dish dirt on the Firm in his memoir but no longer want to go through with it.

Sources say he was trying to make last-minute changes to his bombshell book in the wake of the Queen’s death.

It also emerged he got an advance of around £17.5million ($20million) for the “wholly truthful” memoir — part of a £35million four-book deal.

Brown said: "They are now in this bind, where they’ve taken all this money and Harry has made this book deal where he’s supposed to spill everything about his horrible life as a royal, but now he’s actually tortured about it because he understands there is no way back if he does it,” said Brown.

“If the book continues, I don’t think there is any way for Harry to return. So my view has always been that the book won’t see the light of day.

“The window is beginning to close but I always thought at some point a deal would be made and Charles would have to pay back the advance to stop Harry writing this book.”

'SECTIONS CHANGED'

A source told The Sun on Sunday publishers paid $20million up front because they knew whatever was written would be huge for sales and exposure all around the world.

They said: “But the first draft they received was disappointing as it was a bit too emotional and focused far more on mental health issues than they wanted.

"Eventually, the final draft has been finished and signed off and a lot of money and energy has been spent to make sure it comes out this year.

“But Harry has thrown a spanner in the works as he is desperate to get it refined in the light of the Queen’s death, her funeral and his father Charles taking the throne.

“There may be things which might not look so good if they come out so soon after the Queen’s death and his dad becoming King.

"He wants sections changed. It’s not a total rewrite by any means. He desperately wants to make changes. But it might be too late.”

Meanwhile, Harry’s wife Meghan, 41, was at the centre of fresh controversy over another new royal book.

It was claimed in Courtiers: The Hidden Power Behind The Crown, that staff called her a “narcissistic sociopath”.

Aides referred to themselves as the “Sussex Survivors’ Club” and said Meghan wanted to be “rejected” by the institution.
