DADDY COOL

Stacey and I have a unique nappy changing game, we call it ‘lucky dip’, says Joe Swash

YOU won’t be surprised to hear that Joe Swash and Stacey Solomon find the funny side of any situation – even changing their babies’ nappies.

Joe, 40, and Stacey, 33, are devoted parents to Rose, one, three-year-old Rex, along with Stacey’s two sons from previous relationships, Zachary, 14, and Leighton, 10 and Joe’s son from a previous relationship Harry, 15.

And while many mums and dads find the prospect of dirty nappies something to groan about, cheeky Joe and bubbly Stacey often find themselves in fits of giggles.

In an exclusive shoot and interview with Fabulous, former EastEnders actor Joe said that’s because he and Stacey have made it into an entertaining game.

He explained: “Stacey and I play a game of lucky dip, where we take it in turns to put a finger into the baby’s nappy and if it comes out messy, it’s your turn to change it.

He added: “It makes me laugh every time.”

It seems their approach to changing nappies is also reflective of their life together as a big, blended family.

For, despite Stacey now being a social media doyenne of DIY and domestic organisation, who spends hours tidying their home, Joe says they split the chores 50/50.

He tells Fabulous: “We share everything. We don’t have a nanny or childcare.

“We sync our diaries to make sure there is always someone home.

“If we do both happen to be working, then there’s my family or her family.

“And we also look after our nieces and nephews when their parents are working. It’s always full-on.”

But Joe and Stacey wouldn’t have it any other way.

In fact, when asked about his role as a stepdad to Zachary and Leighton, Joe said he thinks of all the children as his own.

He explained: “I hate that word ‘step’. All of our kids are my kids.

“Of course they see their actual dads and have good relationships with them, but I love them all exactly the same. No difference.”

So will he and Stacey be hearing the pitter patter of tiny feet again in the future?

“Having kids is addictive. I love it. I love being a dad and a husband.

“If I can be half what my dad was to us as a family, then I’d be happy.

“And I’m never going to say never to more kids. Let’s see what happens.”
