I found the perfect unique name for my son but everyone says it reminds them of an animal

PICKING out a name for your child can be a daunting task.

You want to make sure you get it right and won't be something you regret for years to come.

So one mum took to Mumsnet to ask others for their opinion of the name she and her husband had picked out for their son.

The mum wrote: "So we found out we gonna have a boy and my husband really likes the name Axl, as it's unusual and not common. I'm trying to warm up to it though."

The anonymous poster added that she knew the name would be associated with the rock band, Guns N' Roses, as the lead singer is called Axl Rose.

But she added that this was irrelevant and asked for users' thoughts.

However, many people claimed that the name reminded them of a particular animal.

Others added that the name was fine but the parents should think about changing the spelling.

One person wrote: "I’m not keen on it at all but if it was going to be used I would add a letter E in!"

Another commented: "I think Axel is nicer, Axl to me looks like it's missing an e."

"It looks like Axl is short for an axolotl. Not keen on the name, but if you do use it, put an E in it," penned a third.

Meanwhile, a fourth added: "Nice name but for his sake spell it the most intuitive way, Axel."

A fifth asked: "Middle name Otyl? It's not terrible, I know a lovely German Shepherd called Axel, but at least spell it correctly."
