, YouTube interior design and style expert Garrett outlined the tacky items that will make your home look cheap and what you should replace them with.

His first item to go is blowups.

It doesn't matter if they're Halloween-related or a part of a Thanksgiving set, Garrett believes these big balloons take up way too much space.

"When I go up to your house and you have one of these, I'm seeing that thing. I'm not seeing the house. I'm seeing that thing in the front yard and I don't like that," he explains.

"I wouldn't spend the money on them."

Instead, you should opt for smaller items such as pumpkins, mums, or little bails of hay.

Another tacky decor element is glitter.

Garrett says he mainly doesn't like glitter because it's not environmentally friendly.

"It's literally one of the worst things you can do because it's basically already a microplastic. And we all know glitter gets everywhere," he proclaims.

Since glitter isn't natural, you should find rustic and minimalistic alternatives.

You can find faux leaves that will look so much better.

Garret says you should never paint your house in preparation for a season.

"I'm seeing this happening right now, overinvesting in really expensive features," he explains.

This can be painting your house or adding furniture that is fall-colored.

If your constantly redecorating for every season, you're going to end up spending a lot of money every couple of months.

You can use colored LED lights, as well as transitional or versatile pieces that will work to set the aesthetic you want for more than just a couple of months.

"The next thing we need to talk about for fall that needs to be addressed is fall color schemes," he continues.

Warm tones are great, but you don't need to constrict yourself to the three main colors of the season.

Garrett suggests sticking to the colors you know you love.

"You can bring in more of the colors you like in a cozy way," he admits.

One way Garrett uses the color he has in different ways is with his silverware.

During the summer, he keeps it polished.

During the fall and winter, he will let it patina a bit to add warmer tones to his household.

In his opinion, the "epitome of tacky" are the festive fall signs.

"I don't want to see it. I don't wanna be in a space around it, we need to elevate, and that does not mean we need a sign that says to 'gather' or a sign that says 'fall,'" Garrett says.

Halloween signs are fine.

Unstyled floral arrangements are up next to go.

According to Garrett, "you have to style these branches; it can not be a stick with leaves."

Don't just get fake craft store branches and put them in a vase without making them look natural.

You can put a bend in them or add some real dry florals.

"I couldn’t agree MORE about the blow-up 'decorations' for the front yard! I was low-key mom-shamed for not getting them when my son was little," one viewer commented.
