AN interior designer says there are simple ways to make your home look more expensive without spending a fortune.
insists she is "all about achieving the luxe look for less" and shared her expertise in an insightful YouTube video.

In a video posted last month, she broke down her six best tips, explaining how changes to paint, lighting, and wall decor can elevate a home.
DIY YOUR WALLS
"The first very affordable way to make your home look expensive is to paint designs on your wall," she says.
Brent points out that wallpaper is extremely common in luxury homes – but it can be "very, very expensive."
"We are going to use some leftover paint ... and use that to create a design on our own walls," she says.
"Your name does not have to be Matisse for you to do this, so before you get discouraged, you could do something very simple."
She advises viewers to go to a wallpaper website to find inspiration, looking at the abstract and contemporary categories, which have repeating patterns that are easy to do free hand.
Paint designs on walls will look sophisticated "because you are adding visual interest."

"That is something every luxury room has, and that is what separates luxury from mediocre design," she says.
It also eliminates the need for artwork, which can be expensive.
SPRUCE UP OLD FRAMES
Brent suggests collecting old picture frames and reinvigorating them.
"What you need to do is invest in some Rub 'n Buff and use that to make all of your picture frames look gilded," she says.
This is a "fantastic way to create cohesion" as it makes all of your picture frames the same color.

HANG UP YOUR RUGS
"Use an old rug as a piece of artwork," suggests Brent.
"Take a piece of the rug or the entire rug and put it in a shadow box or frame," she explains.
You can also hang them with curtain hardware.
"Get some curtain hardware and use the clips that come with curtains to suspend the rug. So you'd install the curtain and brackets on a normal wall," she says.
"Then the rug becomes a kind of art piece in that way."

DECLUTTER
"Everything in a luxurious home is very tactfully placed, so we want to eliminate as much clutter as possible," Brent explains.
Since end tables and TV trays are a common source of clutter in a living room, she suggests replacing them with armrest covers.
These can be a piece of wood or metal that turns the armrest into a table.
"Not only is this a great way to declutter the home, but it's a great way to add decor to the sofa," she says.
ADD COLORFUL LIGHT
Her next tip is to invest in color-changing lightbulbs, which you can buy from Amazon, Target, and even Five Below.
Brent says that homes need different lighting to accommodate different uses of a room, and you also want to be able to dim the lights.
"Having a lightbulb that can do all of the different variations of light is something that will really elevate your space," she says.
HIDE YOUR CHORDS
Finally, her most important tip is to do some chord management.
"It's something that's so simple but will take you so far," she says. "Chord management is such a simple thing that instantly elevates your home."

You can organize and hide your chords using a zip tie, a box, a media console, or a basket.
Doing this hides visual clutter, because "we never want to see what's going on behind the scenes."
