WARM WILLS

Prince William’s ‘warm’ gesture to encourage ‘cautious’ Meghan Markle before Fab Four united for Windsor walkabout

PRINCE William offered a "warm" gesture to Meghan Markle as the Fab Four put on a united front at Windsor, a body language expert has claimed.

The Prince of Wales, Kate Middleton, Prince Harry and the Duchess of Sussex met with well-wishers on Saturday evening as they viewed the thousands of touching floral tributes left for The Queen.

The four royals chatted and shook hands with members of the public at Windsor's Long Walk as hundreds gathered to pay their respects to Her Majesty.

But William showed an eye-opening warmth to sister-in-law Meghan despite a simmering feud between the couples.

Body language expert Judi James this was seen when the four royals got out of the car.

While William and Harry greet a host prior to their walk-about, Kate moves around from the other side of the car to join her husband.

But Meghan is left on her own, separated from the group.

She watches from afar, waiting for a signal for her to join the other three and their host.

It was at this moment William "led the choreography", by throwing open his arm to welcome the Duchess into the fold.

Ms James explained: "He was the one to hold out an arm to gesture Meghan to join the group and be introduced to their host."

Meghan steps forward, then does the "unusual" gesture of instigating a handshake rather than responding to hands already offered by the host.

Harry then places his hand around his wife's waist, giving her "signals of reassurance and support".

It was a sign both Meghan and Harry were "cautious" ahead of meeting the crowds.

But as the four walked towards the public, a cheer went up and Ms James says this is when Harry and Meghan appeared more comfortable.

They eased up as they spoke with adoring fans who offered their condolences and wishes to the grieving couples.

The rare appearance came as William decided to put aside the tensions with his brother to show "unity" following a phone call with dad King Charles, a royal source claimed.

Ms James concluded: "There were moments of communication between the four and it was obvious that this was William’s decision and instigation."

It comes as King Charles III will lead the Royal Family on foot in a poignant procession behind The Queen's coffin when it travels through Edinburgh today.

Her Majesty will be taken from the Palace of Holyroodhouse to nearby St Giles' Cathedral in a sombre journey to allow the public to pay their respects.

The cortege will see The Queen's coffin travel in a straight line up Canongate and the Royal Mile in the heart of the city.

The procession will leave The Palace of Holyrood house at 2.35pm.

King Charles will lead some of the royals on foot, expected to be the Duke of York, Earl of Wessex, Princess Royal and her husband Vice Admiral Sir Tim Laurence.

It is unclear whether Princes William and Harry and wives Kate and Meghan Markle will be involved in the procession - but there is speculation they will be part of the cortege.

The feuding brothers are thought to be walking side-by-side on both Wednesday, when their grandmother arrives in London, and next Monday for The Queen's funeral.
