A beaming Queen showed the beloved bear she had her own hiding spot for his favourite treat in her iconic handbag

A royal fan left a marmalade sandwich in a plastic bag with two handwritten kisses and the words “For Later” written on the outside.

The tear-jerking gesture was a nod to the famous sketch the Queen did at her Jubilee Celebrations in June with Paddington Bear.

In the heartwarming skit, Paddington hoped that Her Majesty was "having a lovely Jubilee" before she offered him some tea.

He then offered her a marmalade sandwich, which was hidden underneath his hat.

The Bear got to learn that even the Queen loves marmalade sandwiches and had one kept in her bag "for later."

The sequence ended with Her Majesty and Paddington tapping a spoon to the beat of Queen's We Will Rock You, which kickstarted the show.

The grieving fan had left the sandwich at the gates of the Palace of Holyroodhouse, and the image was shared by broadcaster Simon McCoy who added the caption "From Paddington" with the hashtag “#TheQueen.”

Many people was left emotional at the thoughtful gift, with one saying: “this bought tears to my eyes again.”

Another person added: "It’s sometimes the small things that make you cry".

It wasn’t the only Paddington Bear-themed gift left for the beloved monarch.

One visitor even left a copy of Michael Bond's book Paddington At The Rainbow's End.

A note written on it said simply: "One last story Ma'am. X"
