Queen, 96, will NOT attend one of her favourite events tomorrow as Prince Charles steps in at last minute
THE Queen will NOT attend one of her favourite sporting events in Scotland tomorrow, it is understood.
Her Majesty, 96, will miss the Braemar Highland Games on Saturday, with Prince Charles swooping in to replace her at the last minute.
It is understood the decision has been taken for the comfort of the head of state, who has been suffering from mobility problems since last year.
Earlier this week Buckingham Palace confirmed she would not travel back to London to appoint the next PM - staying at Balmoral instead to carry out the job.
The Queen arrived in Scotland at the end of July for her ten-week summer break.
And she will be spared any potential discomfort tomorrow at the Braemar Games, which she last attended with Charles in 2019.

It was initially hoped Her Maj would be there for tomorrow's gathering, usually a highlight in her calendar.
But royal sources confirmed today there were two main issues in terms of the Queen's attendance.
Members of the royal family usually attend the sporting spectacle rooted in Scottish tradition and are pictured enjoying themselves as feats of strength, dexterity and stamina are staged.
The event is held at the Princess Royal and Duke of Fife Memorial Park in Braemar on the first Saturday in September.
These include getting her to the games as well as making the monarch sit for a long period of time to watch them, reports.

The Games are classed as a ‘private’ event in the Queen's calendar and are not considered a public engagement.
They are organised by the Braemar Royal Highland Society and have been running since 1832.
Events include tossing the caber, hammer throwing and tug of war - with pipe bands and Highland dancers also performing.
Queen Victoria was the first royal to attend in 1848 and since then the reigning monarch and other members of the Royal Family have regularly visited it.
Until now, Her Majesty has never missed the competition during her 70-year reign.
This year's event is the first to be held since the start of the pandemic.

It comes just days after it was confirmed the next PM - either Liz Truss or Rishi Sunak - will make the 1,000-mile round trip to Balmoral to be appointed by the Queen on September 6.
They will be joined by Boris Johnson, who will also visit Her Majesty to save her the long trip back to London.
