Inside Princess Diana’s stunning 13,000-acre childhood home
THE LATE Princess Diana was no stranger to luxury, even before she married into the Royal Family.
Lady Diana Spencer was the youngest daughter of the Viscount and Viscountess Althorp and their home was just as grand as their title.
Where did Princess Diana grow up?
Althorp House has been the Spencer family home since 1508 and it's where Diana and her siblings, Sarah, Jane and Charles.
It is still the home of her brother, Charles, Ninth Earl Spencer, as he has been running the estate for the last 29 years.
The luxurious house includes several bedrooms and living spaces as well as a grand picture hall and a Billiards room.
The estate's website says that the property showcases: "one of Europe’s finest private collections of furniture, paintings, and ceramics, each intriguing room of this magnificent family home has a fascinating story of its own."

What was Princess Diana's childhood home like?
The regal estate is set in 13,000 acres of land, 90 rooms and now includes a grand home and the final resting place of Princess Diana.
Growing up Lady Di would have run around the many living rooms and grand bedrooms and had her pick of either the Marlborough Room or the Great Room for elaborate dinners and entertaining.

He shared a photo of the falconry in the grounds of the main house, which he revealed had been built in 1613 for just a week's entertaining.
He also shared a glimpse into the grand library - which he said was his favourite room in the house.
It comes complete with fancy wooden floors with three massive patterned rugs, cream walls and more books than Belle from Beauty and the Beast could read in a lifetime.
The saloon is the fancy name for the entrance hall at the grand house.
It's kitted out with an ornamental staircase and grand paintings hanging from the walls.
The imposing space is lit with whopping great big chandeliers, that they should let Del Boy and Rodney nowhere near.
The bedrooms are like something out of Henry VIII regal drama with tall four poster beds and fancy hanging drapes.
One of the rooms is decorated with stunning blue walls and an inviting duck-egg coloured quilt is laid on the regal-looking bed.
While the Oak bedroom - and don't we all have one - is where John first Earl of Spencer secretly married Georgiana Poyntz.
And later in 1934, Sir Winston Churchill, crashed in the plush pad while he was researching for his book on the Duke of Marlborough.
The grand chambre features an oak bed (clue's in the title) with an "S" for Spencer embroidered onto the curtains.
When it comes to dining rooms there's no shortage on the estate.
The Marlborough Room serves as a formal dining space for important guests and is named after Sarah, the First Duchess of Marlborough.
While the Great Room is the family's dining room - but is also used for business meetings and conferences.
There are also plenty of living rooms for lounging about, reading books and chatting with friends.
The house also has a 115ft long picture gallery which features a series of pretty archways, busts and portraits.
And to top off a tough day playing hide and seek in the massive 90-room mansion, Lady Di could have wound down playing billiards in their own billiard room.
Where is the Althorp Estate?
The Althorp Estate can be found in the district of Daventry, in Northamptonshire.
Its name comes from the parish of Althorp, which makes up the 13,000 acre estate, six miles by road from the town of Northampton.
Princess Diana's family, the Spencers, has owned the Althorp Estate for over 500 years, with Diana calling the estate home before her marriage to Prince Charles.
The estate includes a Grade I listed stately home, along with 50 square kilometres of woodland, cottages, and farms in the surrounding area.

Princess Diana's grave is located on an island in the middle of an ornamental lake on the estate, which was chosen to defend the late princess' remains from ghouls.
