Interior design expert, Vivien, form the US, shared the mistake on her , Posh Pennies.

but don't fear, if you are guilty of these errors Vivien shares the simple ways to correct them.

The first decorating error is mismatched flooring, which can make your home look disjointed.

The worst way this can happen is if your flooring looks like it's been updated through different eras.

But Vivien explains you can easily solve this by replacing the mismatched flooring.

If you don't have the budget for this Vivien recommends installing a floating floor to place on top of the floor or use a large rug or stick on vinyl.

The next big design sign is having furniture that is the same height throughout the room.

"It's one of the biggest giveaways that someone doesn't have experience designing rooms," she adds.

Instead, opt for furniture and accessories that are different heights as it will make your space more visually appearing.

The expert adds that having no houseplants in your home is a huge error people make as it makes your home look sterile.

Not only do they add to the look of your home, but have also been proven to lower stress and anxiety says vivien.

Try adding some greenery into your home, even faux plants will work.

For those of you who love a DIY project , listen up.

The expert reveals too many DIY projects should be avoided as you often end up with half finished projects all around the house.

"I may or may not know this form first hand experience," the expert adds.

If you do want to get into DIY, stick to a maximum of two to three projects at a time to ensure you actually finish them says Vivien.

The expert adds not measuring your furniture or room size before buying furniture is a common mistake most people make.

This can often make your room go from looking fab to drab, so always measure.

Matching furniture sets may have been all the range for your nana and grandad - but they aren't anymore.

The expert explains that some things can match, but furniture sets are a no-no.

Instead, opt for individual pieces that show your personality and style.

Lastly, the expert recommends steering clear from is cool temperature lightbulbs.
