Lemon juice and orange peal are repulsive to spiders due to their strong odour.

“Wiping orange peels on your windows and doorways or spraying lemon juice is an effective way to keep them out of your house, the experts told the .

Oranges and lemons can be picked up for as little as 30p from most supermarkets.

Another way to deter spiders is by spraying white vinegar around the windows and door frames.

Spiders hate the stuff because it contains acetic acid.

The experts add: "We recommend spraying half water, half vinegar over windows, your kitchen, and other entrances where bugs and spiders could be sneaking in.”

Plenty of people like to eat chestnuts as autumn approaches - but they can also be used around the home to ward off the creepy crawlies.

Chestnuts contains an oil that spiders don't like, so place them around any entryways to keep them out.

Spiders always seem to pop out from nowhere and love finding hide outs in dark corners around the home.

Therefore, it's a good idea to fill up any cracks or gaps around the windows or doors to prevent them from entering.

The cleaning experts also recommend installing excluder strips at the bottom of doors.

Finally, turning off any outside lights near the home can help keep spiders away.

Although lighting doesn't attract spiders themselves, it does attract flies and bugs, and other types of food sources.
