Luckily, mums across the UK reveal the secrets to bagging a bargain school uniform on Facebook.

Many of us buy our kids' school uniforms at our local supermarkets - but one savvy mum shares that you should keep an eye out for online discount codes before heading to the store.

Sainsbury's is offering a 20% discount code for school uniforms - so it's worth checking your emails.

She recommends getting click and collect to save on delivery - and in total, the voucher helped the mum save a fiver.

Another thrifty mum reveals that she bagged a B&M backpack for as little as 10p - so it's worth keeping an eye out at your local store to see if any back-to-school items are reduced.

The backpack features the popular Marvel character Hulk, and it included a water bottle holder on the side.

The backpack was initially priced at £7.99 - saving the mum a massive £7.89.

It seems that children are going through school shoes quicker than you can say the words.

Luckily, yet another mum has come to the rescue to tell others where you can buy your kids' shoes at a bargain price.

Posting to the Facebook group, the mum suggests going to Shoe Zone.

She explains that the shoe retailer currently has a sale online for school shoes and offers free standard delivery.

The mum managed to bag a pair of shoes for her son for just £7.99 and cost her just £1.99 for next-day delivery.

Another mum adds that TK Maxx is worth scouting out as she picked up the perfect back-to-school kit which included almost everything your kids will need.

The kit includes a backpack, pencil case, clip, insulated lunch bag, and a keyring/dangle all for just £9.99.

The mum reveals the kits come in a variety of colours and designs.

While there are plenty of retailers doing their part to help keep the cost of school uniforms down - the government is also lending a hand.

Parents can get help with the costs via their Local Government as the government recently announced a £200 discount on school uniforms for low-income families ahead of the academic year, reports .

However, the non-repayable grant is only available in 27 out of 149 English councils according to budgeting expert at , Andrea Knowles.

The grant is available to those whose children aren't in private or independent schools, and you receive benefits.
