NEIGHBROS

Meghan and Harry will live just 800m away from William and Kate on UK visit next month – but will SNUB chance to meet

MEGHAN and Harry will become William and Kate’s awkward next door neighbours again — after revealing they are jetting back to Britain for a string of charity events.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex plan to stay at their five-bed Frogmore Cottage on the Queen’s Windsor estate next month — days after Prince William and Kate, Duchess of Cambridge move into their new family home at nearby Adelaide Cottage.

It is the first time the two families would have been neighbours since Harry and Meghan moved out of Kensington Palace in 2019

But insiders say they are unlikely to pop next door for a chat, like the Ramsay Street characters in the now defunct Aussie soap opera, Neighbours.

Harry and Wills are barely on speaking terms after Megxit and sources say there are “no plans” for the Sussexes and Cambridges to meet, despite living so close.

It is the first time the two families have been neighbours since Harry and Meghan moved out of Kensington Palace in 2019.

The Queen, 96, is also set to give the Sussexes a diplomatic swerve as she will be carrying out her constitutional role swearing in the new Prime Minister and Privy Council when the couple are due in Windsor.

STILL RAW

Prince William ‘still deeply upset’ about Harry and Meghan quitting Royal Family

Ingrid Seward, editor of Majesty Magazine, said: “I don’t think they would bump into one another unless it was pre-arranged.

“I suppose one could go round with some flowers as a peace offering, but remember what happened last time.”

It is claimed Meghan slammed the door on sister-in-law Kate and threw her flowers in the bin when she turned up with the peace offering following a row over a bridesmaid dress fitting before the Sussexes’ wedding.

Meg and Harry renewed their lease on Frogmore Cottage in April. William and Kate are moving with George, nine, Charlotte, seven, and four-year-old Louis, to Adelaide Cottage later this month.

It is around 800 metres away — or a five minute walk across the royal estate.

Royal insiders say any big reunion with the Queen is unlikely due to her “busy diary”.

A source said: “It is expected family conversations will take place to see if there is any space in their diaries — but there is a lot on, especially for the Queen.”

Meghan, 41, and Harry, 37, announced yesterday they will be in Manchester on Monday, September 5 for the One Young World Summit.

‘More hypocrisy’

Meghan will make her first speech in Britain since Megxit when she lectures on gender equality in the city.

They will then jet to Dusseldorf the next day to mark one year before the 2023 Invictus Games.

The Queen meanwhile is expected to break from her holiday in Balmoral to meet her new PM at Windsor or in London on Tuesday.

It is believed she will remain for a Privy Council meeting on Wednesday before returning to the Scottish Highlands to continue her holiday.

The Sussexes have a free day on Wednesday but will be in London for the WellChild awards on Thursday September 8.

It is understood Frogmore Cottage will be their base during their trip back to Britain, their first since their low-key appearance at June’s Platinum Jubilee when they flew by private jet.

The couple’s visit comes while Harry is suing the government for removing his taxpayer-funded armed bodyguards. He claims he feels unsafe without them.

They were removed when he quit royal duty in 2020 to live in the US with Meghan.

Questions were raised last night why the couple had chosen to announce their travel plans amid their security fears.

Harry’s biographer Angela Levin said: “Surely, if anyone is scared for their safety they should keep what they are doing secret. Otherwise it’s more hypocrisy.”
