Don’t let your sex life have a drought this summer – try these sexy hacks to get hot, not bothered
CUDDLES are a total turn-off in summer – and as for sex, you can forget it.
It is too hot to embrace loved ones, sleep, exercise or even wear clothes when the temperature hits 26C, a poll found.
And with the mercury rising well above that, many of us might choose to swerve sex.
But you don’t have to let your love life go into drought. There are many ways to not get hot and bothered in the heat.
From freezesomes to only fans (no, not OnlyFans), sexpert Kate Taylor gives her guide on how to have heatwave hanky panky while still keeping cool between the sheets.

Smoothie operator
DON’T get in the mood with a stiff drink. Too much booze on a hot day, or a hot date, causes your body to sweat more, meaning you’ll end the night with a passion-killing headache.
Instead, make an alcohol-free aphrodisiac mocktail for two, such as a Get Fruity smoothie.
Blend two cups of frozen blackerries or strawberries (full of libido-triggering zinc), a teaspoon of ginger (improves blood flow), a cup of almond milk (full of Vitamin E, Omega-3 and magnesium, all said to boost testosterone) and a teaspoon of honey and a pinch of chilli powder (both traditional aphrodisiacs).

Tundra wear
IT is not the time to wear your tightest polyester undies.
Fitted clothes in man-made fibres make you sweat, leaving your erogenous zones chafed and sore.
Get sexy, loose lingerie or boxers in cotton, satin or silk, and store them in the fridge until it’s time to hit the sheets.
Speaking of sheets, they chill well, too. Keep a silky sheet in the fridge or freezer, then throw it on over your regular bedding.
Freezesome
GENTLY trace plain ice cubes over each other’s nipples (men’s nips are surprisingly sensitive), bits, and inner thighs.
You could also blindfold your partner and use ice cubes to write different sex acts on their body.
If they guess the words correctly, you perform the act on them. Get it wrong, and they perform it on you.
Never use popsicles or anything sugary in foreplay, unless you want an embarrassing chat with a pharmacist in a few days.
Early doors
HOUSES warm up throughout the day, so by bedtime they can be stifling.
If you can only canoodle at night, try sneaking out to a quiet corner of your garden, or even your garage, to make the most of the cool air.
Or set your alarm clock for an early call. Morning sex is great for men, who have a natural testosterone rush at 7am.
But it works well for women too, who can enjoy the feelgood oxytocin buzz all day.
Go no contact
SEX positions that involve cuddling (such as spoons, missionary or anything up against a wall) aren’t your friend when the temperature rises.
Body contact means body heat. You’ll both be dripping with sweat and slipping out of each other’s hands.
Try cooler positions like doggy, girl on top or wheelbarrow — and let the air circulate.
Night on the tiles
BEDROOMS are often the hottest rooms because heat rises to the top floors in your house.
They’re also usually carpeted, which traps in warmth.
Consider decamping to a room that has cold, tiled floors to roll on, like the kitchen or bathroom.
In the kitchen, romp in front of the open fridge or freezer door.
In the bathroom, take a cold shower first, then don’t towel yourselves dry — let the water evaporate off your skin as you get down to some good clean fun.
Chilled thrills
ANOTHER way to turn up the heat while, er, lowering the heat, is to use a cooling lube.
Any product that contains menthol will deliver a tingly chill that wakes up your nerve endings.
Try Cooling Tingle Lube (£5, ) or Play Tingling Water Based Gel Lube (£7.99, ).
Both are water-based, meaning they’re safe to use with condoms.
For even MORE chill, try a Pasante cooling condom (£6.99 for ten from ).
Only fans
OBVIOUSLY, fans are your friend in the heat.
Set one up by the bed or invest in some ceiling fans to keep your bedroom cool.
For MAXIMUM pleasure, let the fans blow over your bodies while they’re damp.
The circulating air will force the water molecules to rapidly evaporate from your skin, taking excess heat away — and sexily waking up your skin’s nerve endings in the process.
Toy with each other
A REALLY hot way to stay cool is to ban full sex altogether and just watch one another play with sex toys.
Place them in the freezer first so they deliver truly chilled-out vibes.
Try a simple bullet vibrator each — place them in a ziplock bag in the freezer for 1-2 hours.
If you want to maximise your temperature thrills, pair a cold toy with a warming sex oil.

Tub humping
IN this heat, a cold shower can actually be GOOD for your sex life.
Not only will the water cool you down, but the novelty will raise your brain’s dopamine levels, making you feel more aroused.

To make shower sex great, always use lube. Try a silicone or oil-based type that won’t get washed away.
Then, adopt a position that gets you both there before the water board cuts you off. Brrrrrrilliant.
