ON THE FENCE

We spent £9K on renovating our fence – our neighbours then turned it 180 degrees so they got the smart side & I’m fuming

A WOMAN has expressed her anger after her neighbour stole the expensive fence she paid for.

The anonymous woman to where she explained that she has a boundary fence that's owned by her “neighbour” - adding that the deed says it's "their responsibility."

Venting her frustration, she penned: "We’ve just had about £9,000 of work done landscaping our garden and one part was spending quite a lot of money treating the fences, sanding, preparing, removing the algae and then double painting them to a lovely colour."

"All finished - five days of work - and they look fantastic."

"Fast forward three days (after the job has concluded) and we get home from shopping only to find they’ve lifted all 19 fence panels and turned them 180°... and now they’ve now got all of the panels that we worked on facing inward to their garden...and we’ve got the same ugly panels we started with."

The woman went woman on to say how she's been over there twice and knows her neighbours are in, but claims they aren't answering the door on purpose.

"I mean it's a s****y thing for them to do, but they own the fence. I don't think you have any comeback," wrote one.

To be honest, while I completely understand you being annoyed, the sheer audacity of what they've done is hilarious. It's SO cheeky that you kind of have to admire the chutzpah."

A second commented: "I was giggling so hard when I read 'they flipped the fence boards!'

That neighbour is a genius! And so gawd damn petty! It was great!"

OP learned a lesson: the fence is completely that person’s property. Don’t make it look pretty. Put up a trestle or something and cover it, but don’t touch the fence."

Meanwhile, a third added: "It's very normal in the UK to paint the fence in your garden if it was put up by you or the neighbour."

Pretty much everyone I know with a fence has it painted/treated regardless of ownership but this is the first I've heard of someone taking the panels out and turning them around."
