I lost confidence after menopause at 37… I couldn’t believe my eyes when I saw my new reflection on 10 Years Younger

A WOMAN who struggled with confidence after having an early menopause at the age of 37 was left emotional when she saw her transformation on 10 Years Younger.

Over the years, Shamanic Practitioner Faye, 51, from Hertfordshire, had helped many people heal, but there's one person that had been left behind - herself.

The public believed the 51-year-old was in fact 63

Appearing on Channel 5 makeover show, 10 Years Younger, the therapist revealed how she had struggled with confidence and self-esteem.

She told host Cherry Healey: ''There's this part of me that hasn't yet accepted itself on a physical level.

''Not feeling great about the way I look has put a big dent in my confidence.''

Sharing her story, Faye revealed she had suffered a number of health issues, which had had a great impact on how she perceived the reflection in the mirror.

''When I was 29, I had a near-fatal road traffic accident and sustained really quite serious head injuries.''

Then, after going into an early menopause aged just 37, Faye got really ill and struggled to get her blood sugar stable, leading to weakness and inevitably - weight gain.

''Since then, I've had to cope with a lot of body changes, emotional changes.''

Unable to hold back tears, she said: ''I definitely don't recognise myself physically. [...] I never feel like I look nice anymore.''

The 10 Years Younger team took to the streets to see how the public viewed her, and the average estimated age was 63 - 12 years older than she actually was.

The bypassers were quick to comment on her “wrinkles around the eyes'' and grey hair.

Cherry said: ''Your whole life has been looking after other people. But when was the last time someone really helped you?''

To get her ''va-va-voom'' back, the team sent Faye to a skin clinic, where a top beautician gave her complexion a boost without a single needle in sight.

Already appearing more glowy, the 51-year-old said: ''Today has demonstrated to me how lovely it is to be in somebody else's hands to let them pamper you a little bit.''

She then got her style tweaked by stylist Gemma Sheppard, who ditched Faye's daily comfort-wear for a more up-to-date look that reflected her persona.

The expert revealed that if you're someone like Faye and are already going through menopause with the constant flushes - or simply need summer-friendly garments for hot weather - opt for materials that let the skin breathe, such as cotton, linen and silk.

Finally after a new haircut and make-up it was time for the big reveal.

Faye couldn't believe her eyes when she saw the reflection of herself in the mirror.

''Oh my God! The hair is such a massive difference. The shoes are wild!'' she couldn't stop admiring what she was seeing.

After just ten days, the public polled her new age as 50 - wiping more than a ten years off the initial results.
