People are sharing their worst sunburn fails after the heatwave – and it’s enough to have you reaching for the factor 50
WITH the UK reaching record breaking high temperatures yesterday, the risk of sunburn has also increased.
While these days the majority of people know to use sun cream, anyone can end up missing a spot, forgetting to reapply, or falling asleep in the sun.
Now people are sharing their biggest sunburn fails online, and the results will certainly have you reaching for that factor 50 sun protection.
One woman posted to Reddit sharing a picture of her sunburn after wearing what seems to have been a bikini top with a criss-cross pattern, with the pattern being left on her body thanks to sunburn surrounding where the material had been.
And while the results may be painful, she’s clearly able to see the funny side, writing: “At least it's symmetrical!”
Another woman shared that after going for a bike ride, part of their arm was burned and looked bright red.
She writes: “My friend told me that I look like a popsicle stick,” and commenters appeared to agree with her friend, with one adding: “Popcyclist!”
The woman explains that while she usually wears sunscreen it was a particularly cloudy day so she felt it was unlikely to burn - obviously she has now learnt that this is not the case.
One man shared a photo of himself extremely burnt, writing: “What could go wrong if I forgot sunscreen.”
Commenters quickly chimed in saying he looked as if he’d gone swimming in Pepto Bismol, while another said he looked like Patrick from SpongeBob SquarePants.
And on the theme of Patrick, one parent shared that their daughter’s sunburn actually looked like the iconic character, even going as far as to draw eyes on her daughter’s back to show this.
While the other’s comments were all full of jokes, this parent found themselves being largely criticised, with one person writing: “...yeah, great parenting here.”
Another Redditer shared the struggles of wearing ripped jeans on a sunny day, showing a picture of their cousin’s legs where they’d be burned through the rips.
Commenters added that the stripy pattern of the burns actually reminded them of bacon.
While these pictures may be somewhat funny, it’s so important to wear sunscreen and ensure you don’t end up like these unfortunate Redditors.
One skincare expert has revealed that many people are actually applying their sun cream wrong, and has shared their method for the ultimate sun protection.
Sun Selects have tried and tested the best sun creams for children and babies, so you can ensure that your little ones are protected from the sun’s harmful rays.
