Khloe Kardashian risks heading for heartbreak after 2nd baby with Tristan Thompson & why Kim will need to watch herself
KARDASHIAN fans are still reeling over the news Khloe is expecting a SECOND child with cheating ex Tristan Thompson.
The baby is thought to have been conceived, via surrogate, just days before Khloe, 38, learned Tristan, 31, had cheated on her with Maralee Nichols, 31.
Tristan fathered this child in December - putting a cloud over the news True, four, is days away from gaining a sibling.
Now parenting expert Kirsty Ketley has revealed her views - including why Khloe risks heading for heartbreak and Kim will need to watch herself...
Despite recent talk Khloe and Tristan have once again reconciled, a source close to the family states that the pair “are not back together and “haven’t spoken to one another since December, outside of co-parenting matters.”
December was when Tristan’s third child Theo was born.
After initially denying Theo was anything to do with him, a paternity test revealed Theo was indeed Tristan’s child and conceived on his birthday - while Tristan and Khloe were back together.
Whether Khloe and Tristan get back together once again remains to be seen.
But while Tristan is yet to meet seven-month-old Theo, he's much more likely to co-parent with Khloe and build a relationship with their new baby, along with True.
But how can they make co-parenting a success, amid all the heartache and drama?
From Khloe’s side, it will be hard for her to feel able to trust Tristan.
Their second baby was conceived shortly before she found out that he had once again been cheating on her with Theo's mother Maralee.
Khloe admitted she was "screaming and crying" while re-watching The Kardashians episode where she learned of Tristan's cheating, branding him “the worst person in the world.”
It isn’t easy to co-parent with someone who has hurt you and, while you may never want to see your ex again, it isn’t about you and them, it is about your child.
You have to love your child more than you hate your ex and put the work in to be as amicable as possible.
Easier said than done, but it looks like Khloe may already be doing just that.
Last week she shared on her Instagram Stories a huge bunch of flowers that Tristan gave her, as well as spending Father's Day together as a family and allowing Tristan to pick up True and cousin Chicago, four, Kim's child, from ballet.
Putting your child first is the number one rule of co-parenting and Khloe is obviously trying to do this.
Back in January, it was also reported Khloe begged her family to"go easy" on Tristan after his love child scandal, for the sake of True and so that she can "co-parent peacefully".
You can see why Khloe wanted her family to respect her wishes.
Kim has made no secret that she is not a Tristan fan and feels that, despite the family giving him chance after chance, he has left her sister feeling broken.
A video surfaced of Kim back in 2018 calling Tristan a “F***ing loser” and saying “when I see him, I’m going to like spit on him.”
Khloe is right to ask her family to try and be amicable, as her children's opinion of her dad should be formed from her own experiences and not influenced by those around her - as well-meaning as they think they are being.
Moving forward, with the new baby joining the family, Khloe and Tristan will have to work harder to ensure that they are both putting the needs of their children first - with the least amount of drama possible.
This will mean communicating effectively with each other.
It can be hard to keep feelings and emotions out of the equation, especially for Khloe if Tristan causes more heartache.
If parents cannot communicate because they are too angry or upset to talk, having someone neutral, who can communicate on your behalf, is the best idea.
For Khloe especially, this would mean not using her mom or sisters.
Using family members who already have strong opinions towards an ex is not helpful at all, and can do more damage in the long-run.
Khloe and Tristan will also need to make sure that they are on the same page when it comes to how they parent, particularly when it comes to the big stuff – like their children’s schooling and medical care for instance.
Trying not to sweat it with the smaller stuff can be hard, but is necessary.
If you can reasonably trust that both you and your ex are committed to raising your kids in a healthy and supportive environment, you don’t need to micro-manage each other’s day-to-day parenting decisions.
Mediation can hugely help if you find you can’t agree on things.
Having a consistent schedule in place, of when the kids are with one parent and then another, is very important so hopefully Khloe and Tristan can make this work.
Cancelling or constantly changing when kids see their parents can do them a disservice.
They need to be able to feel that they can count on being with their parents on a regular basis, like every other weekend for example, and not have that changed at the last minute.
That said, there will be times that changes need to be made, so having a plan in place on how to manage and communicate these with your co-parent is important.
Tristan certainly has a colorful personal life but for True and the new baby, this shouldn’t impact the relationship he builds with them.
For Khloe, this means never bad mouthing their dad in front of them and trying, as hard as it might be, to point out the good things about Tristan to them.
This will help to make the kids both feel safe and feel like they can freely speak well of their dad, without hurting their mom’s feelings.
With Khloe taking Tristan back after he has crushed her before, there is the possibility that with the new baby about to make an appearance, she might well do so again.
She will need to make sure that she is absolutely certain though that their relationship can work.
