Contrary to its name, nail polish remover should not be used to remove nail polish from wooden surfaces.

Instead, experts recommend using rubbing alcohol to remove nail polish stains in your home.

If the stain is fresh, use a cotton swab to soak up the excess polish, making small swipes with the grain.

Once you have removed as much polish as possible with your swab, apply a small amount of alcohol to a clean cloth.

Rub the stain gently, going with the grain, taking care not to damage the wood.

You can use ultra fine steel wool (0000 grade) to buff out the remainder of the stain.
