Prince William gives personal thanks for messages wishing him a happy 40th birthday after Queen and Charles shared pics

PRINCE William has personally thanked the nation for their birthday wishes as he celebrates his 40th.
Signing off with a simple 'W' on Twitter, the Duke of Cambridge said "Thank you for all the happy birthday messages today! W".
It comes as The Queen's official account shared a touching message for Her Majesty's eldest grandson.
In the post, they said: "Happy 40th Birthday to The Duke of Cambridge!
"Prince William Arthur Philip Louis is the elder son of The Prince of Wales and Diana, Princess of Wales. He was born at 9.03pm on 21 June 1982, at St Mary’s Hospital, Paddington, London.
"A bulletin, placed on the gates of Buckingham Palace announced that he weighed 7lb 1 1/2 oz."

Sharing charming snaps from across the 40-year-old's life, royal fans were given a look back at special memories shared between The Queen and Prince William.
One picture shows the Duke in an up-to-date photo grinning from ear to ear.
While another one shows a heart-warming picture of William passing out of the Royal Military Academy at Sandhurst in 2006 as his grandmother inspects him.
He can be seen struggling to hide his smile while her Majesty is also grinning, too.

Other snaps include touching pictures of The Queen with the Prince as a helicopter pilot during his service with the East Anglian Air Ambulance between 2015 and 2017.
The Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall also took to their official Twitter account to send their best wishes to the Duke of Cambridge.
In a Tweet, they said: "Wishing The Duke of Cambridge a very happy 40th birthday!"
Pictures shared by the Cornwall's chart the life of William.
The first shows Charles cradling his first born - the future King of England - on the steps of St May's Hospital in London.
Another picture shows the pair sharing a quiet moment on a ski lift while on holiday.
There is also a picture of the pair embracing one another on a shoot.
While a fourth shows the Royal's on the balcony at Buckingham Palace in 2015 for Trooping The Colour.
It comes as reports Prince William will hold a joint 40th birthday bash with wife Kate after her own party plans were pulled thanks to soaring Covid rates.
The Duke of Cambridge has been given the go ahead to throw the party at the Queen’s Windsor Castle home or Sandringham Estate later this summer.
It is reported that it has been agreed the couple should "celebrate their landmark birthdays in style", royal sources told The Mirror.
The Duke has set out his key birthday as a turning point, pledging more help for those who are struggling.
He vowed to continue to raise the issue of homelessness in an article for the Big Issue, after taking on a stint as a seller of the magazine on the streets of London earlier this month.
"I have always believed in using my platform to help tell those stories and to bring attention and action to those who are struggling," he said.
"I plan to do that now I'm turning 40, even more than I have in the past.
"So, for my part, I commit to continue doing what I can to shine a spotlight on this solvable issue not just today, but in the months and years to come."
Prince William was born at St Mary's Hospital, London on 21 June 1982 to Prince Charles and his late mother, Diana, the Princess of Wales.
