DESIGNING a home can cost a pretty penny, but there are ways to get a luxurious feel in your home without having to spend a fortune.
Interior designers have shared their top tips for getting an expensive-looking home that won't break the bank.
START WITH FLOORING
When trying to achieve a rich feel in your home, it's best to start from the bottom.
Carolina Hansson, Head of Design at suggested: “Solid wood flooring gives a real luxury feel to the space, whilst also helping to absorb the heat in the hot summer months."
Additionally, you can opt for engineered wood flooring as a more practical option as the layers underneath make for a more stable floor.
GO FOR LIGHT AND AIRY
Dark and cluttered spaces cheapen the look of your home, so interior designers always advise going for an open and light design.

According to Lucy Ackroyd, Head of Design at, an expensive-looking home isn't without fun details.
“There’s no better way to bring that sophistication and drama in your home than in your bathroom where you can play with bright lighting, big mirrors, and pops of color," she said.
