The portrait will be in the official platinum jubilee shade of purple and will feature branches from British trees on either side of the portrait.

The branches, which are a nod to the monarch's love of trees, are joined together with shelves holding 70 terracotta pots, which were handmade in Warwickshire.

The pots have been planted with one of the Queen's favourite plants, lily of the valley, which was also included in her coronation bouquet.

But that's not all, the show will feature a Balmoral Castle themed installation, which features fresh flowers like delphiniums as a nod to the Aberdeenshire.

There will also be a monument in the centre of the show’s Great Pavilion tent, with a photography exhibition of the Queen’s visits to the show throughout her reign.

Sarah Poll, partner shows manager at the RHS, said: "It has been three years since we’ve been able to hold RHS Chelsea Flower Show in the spring, and we couldn’t be happier to see the show return to its traditional May slot."

This comes after the show was cancelled in 2020 due to the pandemic.

She added: "The glorious weather we have had in the last few days means that the plants will be at their best as we see our spring favourites at RHS Chelsea once again.

"With a bumper crop of 39 gardens, the return of a spring RHS Chelsea will set the gardening season off with a bang."

Members of the royal family will be and celebrities will be able to visit the show on Monday, before it opens to the public.
