I’m a cleaning whizz and my seven carpet cleaning hacks will make your floors look brand new, especially my iron trick
ANYONE with carpets in their home knows how hard they can be to clean.
Unlike with wood or laminate, carpets tend to hold dirt and stains, meaning getting rid of dust and stains can be a nightmare
Luckily, the cleaning pros at revealed some of the best ways you can banish dirt and grime from your carpet in no time.
Whether you're dealing with stains or just a shaggy looking carpet, there are a few ways to revive it.
Use an iron
Your trusty iron can do more than just straighten out your shirts, it can also be used to carefully remove pesky carpet stains.
Before you grab your iron make sure you vacuum up any dust and crumbs that might be lingering, then with a damp cloth moisten any stained patches with a mixture of water and vinegar.
Lay the damp towel over the stain and move your hot iron over the area.
The stain should lift when the towel is removed, just make sure you don't leave your hot iron sitting on the carpet for too long!
Baking soda and essential oils

If you're dealing with a smelly carpet due to general wear and tear or because of pets, there's a simple fix.
Just mix any essential oil of your choosing and stir into baking soda until it's fully absorbed, then sprinkle over your carpet and let it sit for at least five minutes before vacuuming up.
Make your own cleaner
Sometimes even if there are no marks or stains on your carpet, a quick vacuum isn't enough.
In that case a deep clean is in order, but if you want to ditch the grim chemicals you can make your own deep cleaning solution.
The pros suggest mixing " 60g of hydrogen peroxide, 30g white vinegar, two tablespoons dish soap, five drops of essential oils, two tablespoons of fabric softener and one gallon of hot (not boiling) water."
You can use this in your carpet cleaning machine if you already have one, or just use with a carpet brush to scrub out the grime.
Re fluff your carpet
Remember when your carpet was brand new and felt extra soft and fluffy?
You can get the feeling back with this simple trick, according to the pros.
After cleaning with equal parts water and vinegar, "allow the agent to work, and then blot up the stain.
"At this point, run a spoon along the carpet, hold the spoon on its side, to fluff up the fibres and encourage them to stand straight again."
Use Ice cubes on dented carpet
If your carpet has been flattened by heavy furniture you can also re fluff it with ice cubes.
Let an ice cube melt into the dented area and once it's fully melted use a towel to dab up any excess water.
It's important to not press too hard, or you might dent the carpet again, just lay the towel on top the area and run your iron over the area and it should fluff back up.
Low pile carpets
If you've got a low pile carpet in your home you might have your work cut out when trying to remove stains.
Whereas more plush, shaggy carpets are easier the remove stains from, low pile ones will require extra elbow grease, so keep this in mind when cleaning.
Shag carpets
This style of carpet is back, believe it or not.
But if you want to get yours looking brand new, there are a few things to keep in mind.
The pros say: "Most vacuums have too much suction and can cause the shag to go frizzy or get caught in the machinery.

"If you notice that your carpet is shedding regularly, de-shag it by using the hose attachment of your vacuum."
