Cleaning and organisation guru Stephanie Booth from Georgia shared her three simple tricks for fresh, smell-free washing.

The cleaning pro suggested three every day items that you can chuck in the wash to keep things fresh - and you probably already have them in your kitchen.

Stephanie said that you need to add products that naturally soften the water to your wash.

In a video, Stephanie said: "The minerals in hard water can make it very difficult for your detergent to do the job you want it to do...clean your fabrics.

She said: "Add your detergent. Then pick one of the above products and add half a cup directly into the drum of your washing machine."

The expert just sprinkled half a cup of the basic powder on top of the clothes in the machine before running the cycle.

This eliminates the nasty smells and boosts the detergent.

Stephanie said: "My personal experience is that towels do best when you wash them with this method from the day you bring them home.

"If you start later into owning them, it’s harder to revive the fibers.

"The fiber content of the towels makes a difference too.

"My favorite towels have been the Casaluna brand that Target sells. They stay so soft and fluffy."
