Essential expert spring cleaning tips

The professional organizer says there are some basics to keep in mind when streamlining spaces and eliminating clutter. She says:

  • start with one room at a time, to avoid getting overwhelmed
  • start by editing out the things you don't need
  • map out and measure the space you are working in BEFORE organizing using bins and labels
  • when it comes to the bathroom, don't overbuy

The master in de-cluttering reveals another essential is to have a backstock bin, something where you can store surplus items you buy in bulk, like soap, toothpaste or detergent.

Using it to "shop" from for things you're running low on, she claims, will help streamline and make your space easier to maintain.

Another expert tip she offers relates to clothing - less is more in her opinion.

"Is it serving a function in my life today, maybe it did in the past, but isn't anymore, really thinking through that" is essential, she tells Spectrumnews1.com.
