I’m a DIY pro – the easy way to paint around glass WITHOUT using tape

PUTTING the finishing touches on your home improvement project is satisfying – until you’re left peeling tiny chunks of painter’s tape from a glass surface.

One DIY expert shared her favorite strategy for painting around glass, without suffering through the process of taping the area beforehand.

The final result is super-satisfying, Beavers said

Lauren Beavers is a mom and the mastermind behind the blog Hand Makes Home, a valuable resource for indoor and outdoor DIY projects.

On her Instagram, Beavers showed off a stress-free way to paint French doors or anywhere else that would usually require the headache of taping off glass panels.

“Let me show you the best hack for painting around glass without using tape,” Beavers said.

“First you want to clean the glass and let it dry completely,” she demonstrated.

Then, she revealed the magic solution she swears by: Jasco Liquid Mask & Peel.

One quart of the solution sells for $28 at Walmart, and it can be used for different projects all over the home.

The liquid peel “has a similar consistency to Mod Podge or craft glue,” Beavers explained.

To make sure it works, you’ll need to apply a thick layer to any glass surfaces that you want to avoid getting paint on.

If the glass you’re protecting is encased in wood, don’t worry about trying to keep the gooey substance off the surrounding surfaces.

“The point is to protect the glass but it’s ok getting it on the wood because it actually primes and seals that part too,” Beavers explained.

When the liquid seal turns clear, that means it’s dry and ready for paint.

After your paint is dry, it’s time for the fun to begin.

“Take a blade and run it all along the edges of your glass,” Beavers instructed. “Then, start peeling away.”

Your paint should come away from the glass easily in long strips.

The easy cleanup is almost as satisfying as the perfect lines you’ll leave behind.

“Satisfaction level: 1,000,” Beavers said.
