A PROFESSIONAL spray tan artist has revealed her tricks for getting the most out of your fake tan.
Jessica Rae, posted a sharing tips to get the most out of your bronzed glow, which she said should last between one and two weeks.
To get the most out of your bronzed glow, Rae suggested asking for a medium shade tan.
"Don't ever go light with a spray tan," she said.
"A light [shade] is going to come off faster."
She doesn't recommend going too dark either but said it all depends on your skin tone.
Rae said it is best to speak with your spray tan technician before deciding.
Next, Rae suggested using an organic, natural body wash for at least a week leading up to your tan.
"I love Unscented Body Wash," she said.
"Make sure you exfoliate really well before your spray tan appointment," said Rae.
She suggested using an exfoliating mitt and Dr. Bronner's to exfoliate 24 hours before your spray tan, to remove any dead skin and create a base for your tan application.
The spray tan pro said for lotion, wait 24 hours AFTER your spray tan to apply the cream.
"Wait 24 hours before you use any soap or lotion," she said.
"You want your spray tan to fully develop for 24 hours before you put any other product on your skin."
She said after the 24 hours, you can use soap, lotion, and shave again.
To remove hair while you have a spray tan, she said to only shave and avoid waxing and other hair removal processes.
To darken your tan, Rae said you can use a self-tan product on top of your spray tan.
She recommended waiting three days after getting your spray tan before applying the self-tanner.
