I’m a cleaning expert – how to get stubborn gunk off your shower head using a kitchen ingredient
WITH spring in the air, it's officially time to tackle your spring cleaning list.
While it may be obvious to scrub your toilet and wipe the counters, it's probably time to give your showerhead a thorough cleaning as well.
Over time, the fixture can get clogged with buildup from mineral deposits and residue, so it's a good idea to deep clean it once in a while.
Luckily, you can easily clean your shower head with just one kitchen staple, according to a cleaning expert.
STEP 1: REMOVE THE SHOWERHEAD
First things first, start by completely removing your shower head from the fixture or hose.
STEP 2: SOAK IN VINEGAR
According to Lauren Bowen from Two Maids & A Mop, white vinegar is the perfect solution to a gunky shower head.
You'll want to pour the vinegar into a bag or bin larger than your shower head and let soak.
Bowen “Leave it submerged for at least an hour, or overnight if you need a deep clean.
"The vinegar will loosen the mineral deposits naturally.”
STEP 3: SCRUB CLEAN
After a good soak, remove the showerhead from the vinegar and gently scrub away any debris.

If you want to go the extra mile, you can use a mixture of equal parts lemon juice and baking soda and scrub clean with a small brush.
STEP 4: RINSE AND RECONNECT
Lastly, rinse your shower head with hot water, wipe it down with a towel, then reconnect.
Then you'll be left with a sparkling clean shower head free of any gunk.
