He is resting at home after his positive test, which was taken this morning as routine before any public engagements.

However Camilla today tested negative - and was out and about meeting staff members at the Paddington Haven sexual assault referral centre in West London.

She told reporters today she was "lucky" to have dodged the bug and told well-wishers of her husbands condition.

The Duchess revealed that Charles is finding it a "bit tiresome" to have the illness for a second time.

Both Charles and Camilla are triple-jabbed and have encouraged others to get the vaccine.

This morning Royal aides confirmed he is self-isolating but not experiencing any strong symptoms after he tested positive during a routine test.

Buckingham Palace also confirmed he had met recently with the Queen but said she is not displaying any symptoms.

He met with guests including Rishi Sunak, who has since tested negative, and Priti Patel to celebrate the work of the British Asian Trust (BAT).

Under Covid rules, if you live with or come into contact with someone who tests positive you do not have to self-isolate if fully vaccinated.

Clarence House said: "This morning The Prince of Wales has tested positive for COVID-19 and is now self-isolating.

"HRH is deeply disappointed not to be able to attend today's events in Winchester and will look to reschedule his visit as soon as possible."

Charles was due to unveil a statue of Licoricia of Winchester today before attending a civic reception at The Great Hall.

He was forced to pull out just moments before - leaving the waiting crowds groaning in disappointment.

The Lord Lieutenant of Hampshire read a message on behalf of Charles.

It said: "Ladies and gentlemen, I am so sorry that I cannot be with you today. I am desperately disappointed as I was so looking forward to marking this historic occasion with you.

“I hope very much that I will be able to visit at a future time. But for today please accept my most heartfelt apologies and my very best wishes as you mark this memorable occasion for Winchester. “

It is the second time Charles has been hit by the disease after testing positive at the start of the pandemic in March 2020.

CAMILLA 'HONOURED'

He said at the time he "got away with it quite lightly".

The royal added: "I was lucky in my case... but I've had it, and I can so understand what other people have gone through."

Camilla's London visits todaycame after Her Majesty announced she will become Queen in a statement marking her Platinum Jubilee on Saturday.

The Monarch said it is her “sincere wish” that the Duchess of Cornwall will be known as Queen Consort.

Speaking about the honour today, Camilla said: "I feel very honoured - very honoured and very touched."
