Savvy mum transforms bunk bed into three separate beds so daughters can all fit in same bedroom

SPACE comes at a premium when you have kids - so for plenty of families, it makes sense to have their younger ones sharing a room.

But three kids in one small space? That can be a challenge even with a generously-sized bedroom - yet alone a box-room.

So when Australian mum Karlie found herself in this exact scenario with her three daughters, she decided to get creative.

Posting on the Facebook group Mums Who AU, Karlie explained how she looked into having a custom frame built to house all three beds - but ultimately couldn't afford it.

Instead, she decided to give it a go herself - and the results are spectacular.

In order to make the 8.4 square metre room work for them, the savvy mum decided to create the frame herself using an old bunk bed.

To begin with, she took her daughters' old beds apart to create the top frame.

Once she was happy with this, Karlie bolted the bunk onto the top of the two bottom beds and finished it off with some white paint.

And as she had some wood leftover, the mum then used it to create a toy shelf which she secured into the far wall.

Determined to keep the costs down, Karlie snapped up an old corner shelf from Facebook Marketplace and gave it a lick of paint so it blended in with the bunk bed frame.

Unsurprisingly, other members of the group were blown away by the finished result.

"The room looks amazing," one gushed. "You must be so proud of yourself."

Another added: "What a wonderful set up - love it - absolute genius! So pretty but still so functional."
