Pandora warns against viral cleaning hack as it can RUIN your jewellery
SOCIAL media is awash with suggestions and hacks to help you streamline your life, particularly when it comes to keeping things ship shape and clean.
If you keep up to date with the latest "life hacks" you may have spotted one doing the rounds on TikTok where jewellery lovers blitz their grubby charm bracelets.
The influencers take their bracelet, complete with charms, and submerge it in a combination of boiling water, baking soda and salt for five minutes.
If the video clips are anything to go by the jewellery then becomes transformed and shiny but a spokesperson from Pandora advised against using the TikTok trick as it could damage your bracelet.
She explained that if you continuously use this tactic it's likely that you will cause erosion to the plating with the harsh chemicals.

Speaking to the , Sarah Rowlands said: "Even just using boiling water can be a risky choice as this may encourage your gems or stones to dislodge as the heat melts the bonding glue keeping them securely in place.
"Another popular idea you should give a miss is using an old toothbrush to scrape away the dirt that accumulates in the intricate gaps of your jewellery.
"Again, this is much too harsh for your precious metals, and, not to mention, spreads bacteria from the old toothbrush to your jewellery."

Instead, the expert suggested you take your precious pieces to a professional jeweller for an annual service who will safely blitz them and make sure they don't dislodge any gem stones.
She also recommended buffing your jewellery with a polishing cloth to counteract the natural tarnishing from the air and occasionally dipping it in luke warm water with washing up liquid to remove dirt and grime.
