Savvy woman turns kitchen from drab to fab with Amazon and Dunelm bargains and it saved her £1.3k
SOMETIMES it feels like we're constantly updating our homes to keep up with current trends - but even though we spend plenty of time in there, the kitchen never gets a look-in.
Because unless you want to replace the cabinets or re-do the floors, it's hard to make much of a difference to the overall look... or so we always thought.
And even though she initially thought the project would set her back roughly £1,500, Jodie managed to pull it off for only £147.
She explained: "I follow DIY pages on Facebook and I’m forever saving posts of anything I quite like.
"During Covid, I got so sick of my kitchen that my fiancé and I decided to just completely overhaul it!"

Before they decided to do it themselves, Jodie and her fiance had white wooden cabinets and fake dark grey marble flooring.
To begin with, the DIY fans, from Buckinghamshire, sanded down the cupboards and added a layer of primer.
Once this was dry, the couple went in with two coats of Homebase dark grey paint and upgraded the handles with rose gold ones they'd bought for £26.99 on Amazon.
Next, Jodie set her sights on laying her new vinyl floor tiles she bought for £10 a pack from Dunelm.
Jodie explained: "The flooring was also super easy: we ripped up the old floor, cleaned and swept the concrete below and again applied a couple of coats to a good floor primer.
"The tiles are all ready to stick but we used an adhesive spray for extra stick!
"Then we simply matched the patterns up on the floor and cut out around the edges with a Stanley knife, then once dry sealed the edges."
To finish off, the couple bought some new fake plants and breakfast bar stools which cost £20 from B&Q.
Thrilled with the results, Jodie added: "It cost £147 in total, so cheap and cheerful, whereas if I had got it done professionally, I would guess it would cost around £1,500 minimum.
“It took three days of hard work for a fabulous kitchen.
“It’s great to save money: we are always doing our own DIY projects around the house, and it’s even better when you know you’ve done it all yourself!
"My main tips for people would be to always trust the process.
"That’s my favourite saying to my fiancé whenever I start on one of these DIY projects!
"Sometimes he thinks I am crazy when I try to explain my visions, but he is always so good at trusting my process and your gut instincts are always right, it will turn out exactly how you want it!
"Plus there is absolutely nothing a YouTube video can’t teach you: I swear by this.”
