Under 18’s banned from receiving Botox and cosmetic fillers in huge win for Sun’s Had Our Fill campaign
CHILDREN are now banned from getting fillers and Botox in a huge win for The Sun's 'Had Our Fill' campaign.
From today it is illegal to carry out Cosmetic Botox of fillers on under-18s in England.
This will stop a whopping 41,000 Botox injections from being given to under 18s every year.
Those who do carry out these procedures on under-18s face prosecution and there will be a requirement for businesses to verify a person's age before arranging appointments.
The legislation, tabled by Laura Trott, Conservative MP for Sevenoaks and Swanley, will also require a doctor, registered medical practitioner, or a health professional to administer such procedures where there is a medical need in under 18s – a requirement not previously in place.
When actioned the requirement will be enforced via the police and local authorities through a similar system already in place for tattoo parlours.
Ms Trott introduced the Bill after being selected fourth in a Private Members’ Bill ballot in January 2020.
And, having gained cross-party backing in both the House of Commons and the House of Lords, the Bill was approved by the HM The Queen earlier this year.

Had Our Fill campaign
Britain's Botox and filler addiction is fuelling a £2.75billion industry.
The wrinkle-busting and skin plumping treatments account for 9 out of 10 cosmetic procedures.
50% of women and 40% of men aged 18 to 34 want to plump up their pouts and tweak their faces.
Fillers are totally unregulated and incredibly you don’t need to have ANY qualifications to buy and inject them.
83% of botched jobs are performed by people with no medical training, often in unsanitary environments - with devastating results.
Women have been left with rotting tissue, needing lip amputations, lumps and even blinded by botched jobs.
Despite the dangers, there is no legal age limit for dermal filler, which is why Fabulous has launched Had Our Fill, a campaign calling for:
- fillers to be made illegal for under 18s
- a crackdown on social media sites plugging fillers
- a Government-backed central register for practitioners with accredited qualifications

Now, Laura Trott, MP for Sevenoaks and Swanley said: “No child needs cosmetic Botox or fillers.
“They are dangerous and unnecessary procedures which can ruin children's lives.
“We do not expect something that we can easily, and very legally, get done in the comfort of our own home to be something that can blind us - but shockingly, that is the case, if not carried out by a registered practitioner.
“I am grateful for the Government support in making my Bill a reality.

Botulinum toxin, dermal fillers and laser hair removal account for nine out of 10 non-surgical treatments performed in the UK.
The latest analysis by the Department for Health estimated that as many as 41,000 botulinum toxin procedures may have been carried out on under-18s in 2020 and that more than 29,300 dermal filler procedures may have been undertaken on under-18s since 2017.
