No way am I wearing a shorts suit at my age, says Jane Moore
WELCOME to my Saturday Shop column. Today we’re looking at this season’s shorts suit trend.
“Absolutely no way am I wearing a shorts suit at my age,” I said defiantly. Five minutes later, I was persuaded to ‘just try’ the above outfit and, against my better judgment, really liked it.
So why the initial reluctance? Well, primarily because I’m knocking 60 and I associate shorts with a younger demographic.
And secondly, because I call my knees as Phil and Grant Mitchell and keep them under wraps.
But hey, it’s summer, and they deserve an airing, so here they are in this ridiculously comfortable combo.
that adds shape and the matching jacket-style top smartens the outfit up enough to wear it anywhere.
I’ve got this buttoned up but it would look nice kept open with a cami top underneath for a pop of colour.
like these are easy to mix and match, too.
If you’re not fond of this length, there are plenty of styles around that sit on the knee and give more coverage.
My top tip would be to avoid shorts too tight - the pockets should lie flat and not flare out
and elevate the heel a little for extra height but are comfortable too.
