KATE Middleton and Prince William told Prince George on his seventh birthday that one day he'll be king, it is claimed.
While some may think that seven might be a little too early to start talking about being heir, biographer Robert Lacey says William actually decided to explain the line of succession to George at a much later date than other royal kids.
It's not known exactly when William decided to tell George he is going to be king, but it's thought to be around the time of his seventh birthday last year.
The little prince will turn eight on July 22.
Lacey touches on a statement William gave to BBC royal correspondent Nicholas Witchell, where he insisted there was a "time and a place" to tell George about where he "fits in the world".
William had said he wanted to keep a "secure, stable, environment" around his son and show him "as much love as I can as a father".
Lacey adds: "William's aim as a father, the prince stressed, was to give his son a 'normal family upbringing' enabling the monarchy to 'stay relevant and keep up with modern times."
In the updated version of the book, the author suggests that George had "no idea" why he was posing alongside dad William, his grandfather Prince Charles and great grandma The Queen for the historic 'Four Monarchs' photo, taken in 2019.
The significance of the picture was not revealed to George, who Lacey claims was merely told he needed to spend a few minutes with The Queen.
The Queen is currently the longest-reigning monarch in British history and as it stands, her son Charles is first in line to the throne if the Queen abdicates, retires or dies.
Second in line is William, who is Charles' eldest son, and his three children all sit behind him, with George third in line, his six-year-old sister Princess Charlotte in fourth and Prince Louis, three, in fifth.
Prince Harry follows his niece and nephews as he is sixth in line to the throne and his two children, who he shares with Meghan Markle, are next.
Archie, two, is seventh in the line of succession, while Harry and Meghan's daughter Lilibet, born last month, is the newest addition and eighth in line.
