The celebs you had no idea wear wigs – from Vicky Pattison to Stacey Solomon & Katie Price
REGULARLY switching up your hair can obviously take its toll on your locks, so it's no surprise that celebs actually prefer investing in wigs to change up their look.
From Katie Price to Stacey Solomon and Gemma Collins, a whole host of stars are forever seen rocking different hair lengths and shades, without actually making a permanent change.
We've seen Kylie Jenner with neon green tresses and Jesy Nelson temporarily said goodbye to her caramel locks to go ice blonde.
But, wigs aren't always a fashion choice, with Stacey Solomon previously revealing she swears by them to hide her grey roots and broken hair.
Here's the celebs you had no idea were faking it when it comes to their mane.
Katie Price
Mum-of-five Katie, 43, was seen turning up late for an interview on Good Morning Britain at the beginning of May without her usual glam and without her usual wig.
The former glamour model was forced to rock her natural locks which sit just above the shoulder and are a lot darker to the blonde hue she's usually rocking.
To get her locks luscious and long, Katie swears by wigs and revealing why, she said on Steph's Packed Lunch: "Wearing wigs isn't just a fashion choice. Like millions of women I've experienced hair loss.
"When I started modelling I had really long hair and started colouring it. I had kids and started balding, had extensions, but do you know what, I have to give my hair a rest."
She added: "I absolutely love them. These days it doesn't matter if you wear a wig or not, who cares? You can have so much fun with wigs."
Stacey Solomon
Back in 2018, Loose Women star Stacey revealed she likes to wear wigs as it helps her to hide her grey roots, as well as broken strands of hair. She came clean while sharing a video of her washing her wig in the bath to Instagram.
Writing for Fabulous, Stacey explained: "After years of bleaching, tonging, blow-drying and straightening, my natural hair is completely ruined.
"People always warned me not to dye my hair too much or use too much heat but I ignored their advice. I always wanted to go blonder, straighter, slicker. The result? Wiry, broken strands and a psoriasis-ridden scalp. Stress causes flare-ups and it’s so damn itchy.
"The only way I can get my natural hair back is to stop styling it, but that’s impossible. My roots are 50 per cent ash brown, 50 per cent grey. I’m in my late 20s and it’s so depressing. I don’t want to look really old."
Stacey revealed she splashed out £1000 on a short blonde wig she named Suze made of human hair, adding: "She's an investment, I'm going to have her for the next ten years."
"She takes 20 minutes to put on... I sucked it up and that was the beginning of our love affair."
Vicky Pattison
Reality star Vicky has been a lover of bond and clip-in extensions over the years, but has previously admitted that constantly wearing them in her hair can take its toll.
In February, she shared a rare video of her natural hair after working hard to get it "as healthy and strong as it could be" again.
One way of reducing damage to her natural locks is wearing wigs and Vicky has been known to rock a few in her time.
After wearing bond and clip-in extensions for years, the star reveals that she’s been working hard to make sure her hair “is as healthy and strong as it could be.”
For a date night with boyfriend Ercan Ramadan, Vicky donned a blonde tousled number and revealed on Instagram: "Thank you to my @haroldcaseylondonhair for not only making this incredible wig for me but also for doing a full hair change 30 mins before we had to get in the cab.... I don’t know why you put up with me man."
Chloe Ferry
Taking inspiration from Kylie Jenner, Chloe likes to experiment with fun-loving wigs from time to time, but she also swears by more subtle styles to give her mane a fuller look.
Extensive bleaching and extensions have put stress on Chloe's natural locks, with the Geordie Shore star turning to wigs to disguise the damage.
In January 2019, Chloe revealed the extent of the damage to her hair while out filming in Newcastle and her own experience seems to have inspired a new business venture, as the reality star has since launched her own line of wigs via her beauty line Chloe Ferry Cosmetics.
Keira Knightley
Actress Keira Knightley is a lover of wigs and revealed that she's been swearing by them for more than five years now.
In an interview with InStyle, Keira explained that years of dyeing her hair for different movies had impacted on her natural hair and she suffered badly from hair loss.
The Pirates of the Caribbean star explained: "It got so bad that my hair literally began to fall out of my head.
"So for the past five years I’ve used wigs, which is the greatest thing that’s ever happened to my hair."
Jesy Nelson
Former Little Mix star Jesy Nelson is forever switching up her 'do and that's thanks to her love of wigs, which she's become pretty fond of.
Usually Jesy's locks are pretty chopped and dark in colour, but fans have seen her rocking everything from ice blonde hair to a fiery red mane.
During lockdown, she was missing experimenting with her locks and told fans: "Miss dressing up and wearing a wig."
Katy Perry
Katy Perry is no stranger to switching up her look and fans have seen her wear some crazy wigs when it comes to her music videos and stage performances. Now, she's relying on them for a much more low-key look too.
Katy surprised fans with her hair transformation, as she ditched her short blonde locks for a glossy dark mane for a recent appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live.
Showing off her stunning hair, that she later revealed to be a wig, Katy teased: "Mama has the night off so you get inches."
Keeping it real with her fans, however, Katy was then later seen ripping off her wig on social media and declaring: "Everything is fake."
