Prince Harry reveals London was a ‘trigger’ & he felt ‘haunted’ there after Diana’s death in on-screen therapy session

PRINCE Harry has revealed returning to London was a "trigger" for him after Princess Diana's death as he tackled his personal traumas in an on-screen therapy session.

In the doc - The Me You Can't See - the Duke of Sussex said he has a "hollow empty feeling of nervousness" whenever he arrives in the capital and admitted he feels "hunted and helpless" while he's there.

When questioned by his therapist about how it makes him feel, Harry said: "[Like there] is no escape. There is no way out of this."

But after being pushed by his therapist into exploring how he feels looking back on that moment, the soon-to-be- father-of-two added: "I'm not helpless.

"It's only for a brief moment in time and you're living your life by truth so there's nothing to be afraid of or worried about."

After acknowledging that he was actually feeling sadness rather than helplessness, Harry's therapist asks him to cross his arms and gently tap his shoulders.

Having done this for a few moments, the Duke describes this method of Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing like "cleaning his hard drive."

Reflecting on the months after his mother passed away, Harry opened up about how important his first trip to Africa was.

"I think I was out there for at least two weeks," he said. "And it was such a cure. I just felt so free, it was a sense of escapism that I'd never felt before.

"And then going back to the UK, knowing what I was going to be confronted with and knowing what I couldn't get away from was scary.

"The trauma is very much geographical."

Speaking to camera afterwards, Harry said: "To me, therapy has equipped me to be able to take on anything.

"That's why I'm here now. That's why my wife is here now."

During the five-part series with Oprah Winfrey, Harry revealed that he'd been in therapy for "four or five years" and accused the Royal Family of showing a "total neglect" for his mental health struggles.

He says: "My father used to say to me when I was younger, he used to say to both  and I, 'Well, it was like that for me so it’s going to be like that for you.'

"That doesn’t make sense. Just because you suffered, that doesn’t mean your kids have to suffer. Actually quite the opposite.

"If you suffered, do everything you can to make sure that whatever negative experiences you had, you can make it right for your kids."
