Meet Kitten Kay Sera – the world’s pinkest person who wears pink clothes, lives in a pink house and even owns a pink DOG
Kitten Kay, 53, who lives in Hollywood, California, admits the pinkification of her life has cost “over a million pounds and counting”
A LOT of little girls love pink, but one woman has taken her fondness for the pretty hue to the extreme.
Kitten Kay Sera, 53, who lives in Hollywood, California, claims to have not worn any other colour for the last 35 years, lives in a pink home and even owns a pink dog.
In 2016 the eccentric actress was officially named the ‘world’s pinkest person’ by Ripley’s Believe It Or Not.
“Wearing anything but pink is impossible for me,” she said.
“Pink has become my life and I have to admit it’s a relief. Who wants the bother of colour co-ordination? For me, pink is empowering.”
Kitten, who calls herself a “pink flamingo in a world of pigeons”, admits the pinkification of her life has cost “over a million pounds and counting”.
She said: “It all adds up and people from all over the world are constantly sending me pink items.
“I am the world’s pinkest person and my life is devoted to that colour. Some people think I am weird but frankly I am fierce and fabulous.”
Kitten appeared on This Morning today via video link from the States, but her interview with Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield proved an awkward affair due to a six-second lag.
The quirky character's colourful home had viewers at home joking their eyes had been "burned".
Kitten claimed she spent around $36,000 a year on pink items, but to her it's more than worth it.
An average day for Kitten involves getting out of her pink bed, throwing on a pink robe, washing her face with pink soap and feeding her dog, Miss Kisses, treats from a pink bowl.
Miss Kisses is treated to beetroot juice dyes to turn her coat a vet-approved soft colour of pink.
Kitten showers using only pink products, paints on her pink make-up and dresses in pink clothes.
“I used to only wear soft pink but now I have a selection of pink shades but I draw the line at fuchsia – it’s simply too red for my taste,” she said.
She spends hundreds of thousands of pounds on pink garments, handbags and accessorises but her prized possession is a pink dress worn by Audrey Hepburn.
"It’s priceless,” she said.
Kitten dressed in a variety of colours until her late teens when she decided to just wear pink, white and black.
"I liked the combination and thought I'd try it as an experiment,” she said.
“By the end of the year I was wearing all pink and loved it. I gave all my other clothes away.
“My family thought it was a phase but I am starting my fourth decade of pink power and am not looking back.”
Kitten, who owns a pink phone and a pink car, does voiceover, acting and singing jobs.
She insists that her contract explicitly states that she’ll “only ever wear pink”.
The pink princess is single by choice but reveals she’s never short of a date.
“The men that come to my apartment are always stunned by my passion for pink,” she said.
“The only time a man didn’t say he was amazed I was stunned. I finally asked during dinner what he thought of my flat. He told me he was colour-blind and only saw grey.”
Her unusual lifestyle has also courted attention amongst Hollywood’s A-list.
“I just finished a photo shoot with Paris Hilton. Ruby Rose, Ellen Von Unwerth have shot at my home and Beyoncé’s a pal,” she said.
Kitten has recently teamed up with the Single Ladies hit maker for her new album.
“Beyoncé and I go way back! I actually met her in 1995. We were both just beginning to take off,” she said.
“I am a Houston girl and most of the singers in the town knew one another.”
She has also written a children’s book - with co-author Miss Kisses - about her adventures.
When she’s not busy with work, Kitten is scouring vintage shops and online stores for everything pink.
“I am waiting for a special all-pink shell-shaped bed which has a cover that can come down and enclose you in a pink shell. It’s a mid-shade of pink and very soothing” she said.
“People are constantly amazed at my pink collection. I have pink televisions, DVDs, computers, phones, cameras, vases, tables, chairs, sofas, beds, crockery, cooking bowls, pots and pans, dish sponges, pink vacuum, pink wardrobe, pink piano and pink lamp shades.”
Kitten wears pink to funerals, has a pink robe at the doctors and has a pink Christmas tree.
She believes the colour is empowering and it makes her stand out.
“I always feel alive and happy in it and pink is never drab,” she said.
“You only live one life and I want mine to be remembered and count so I am the Pink Lady of the World.”
