WE'RE all guilty of using fabric softener and tumble dryer sheets to get our clothes looking and smelling their best - but, as it turns out, there is another way.
Some cleaning fanatics are using tin foil in their washing machines and dryers and reckon it's even better than their favourite scented laundry products - it works out SO much cheaper, too.
Dr Staci Tanouye, a Gynaecologist who regularly shares clips on , is even on board with the hack, saying it's ideal for those with sensitive skin.
She reckons regular tumble dryer sheets and fabric softeners can cause irritation and recommends using balls of tin foil instead.
In a short clip she revealed that you can use tin foil, wool dryer balls and even tennis balls, which are all cheaper AND safer than the alternative.
She wrote: "Avoid fabric softener and dryer sheets if you have sensitive skin. Both have too many skin irritants and fragrance."
She explains that tin foil reduces static in the clothes and it's as simple as scrunching it up into a ball and chucking in with your clothes.
But it's not the first time the idea has been mentioned, as crazy as it may sound.
Cleaning-obsessed YouTuber Andrea Jean demonstrated the hack on her YouTube channel, , after hearing about how well it works.
Armed with two balls of scrunched up foil, she said: "The idea is that this is suppose to help reduce static in your clothes so that they can wash more effectively."
Andrea did however admit to being unsure as to why you'd use the foil in your washing machine, and suggested doing it in your dryer instead.
Despite her initial hesitation, she was pleasantly surprised by the results. Although, if she were to pick one or the other, she said definitely use them in place of dryer sheets.
She isn't the only one either. According to , the clever hack "helps to reduce static electricity and keep clothes crisp."
And "it will not leave any grime on your clothing" as some tumble drier sheets do.
The tin foil balls can also be reused for a couple of months, which will no doubt save you a fortune.
And agreed saying that tin foil balls will help stop clothes clinging together.
Explaining the process, the website said: "The foil balls both discharge any static buildup that the clothes may experience and help keep the clothes separated, which should speed up the drying process."
