Woman reduces her boyfriend to tears with brutal PlayStation 5 prank
A PRANKSTER girlfriend almost reduced her partner to tears by convincing him she'd bought him a PlayStation 5 for Christmas - only to reveal it's a hyper-realistic filter.
Luke Coburn, 23, has had his PlayStation 3 since he was 14 years old and knew he and partner Rebecca Redbourn, 21, couldn't afford the pricey new console.
But Rebecca decided to prank Luke by “accidentally” texting him a screenshot of a PlayStation 5 in their hallway and revealing it was his Christmas present.
Luke was so excited at the treat and immediately told his coworkers what his girlfriend had done - admitting he was 'struggling' to hold it together and had gone 'all weird' he was so overwhelmed.
However poor Luke was left fuming only when the mum-of-two revealed the PlayStation 5 was a super-realistic filter and she hadn't actually ordered him the console.
Rebecca, from Pontyclun, Wales, said: "I didn’t think he would believe me. I expected him to click on straight away considering they haven’t been released yet, but when he fell for it I couldn’t help but play along.
"I felt guilty afterwards. He’s still using the PS3 he had as a teenager and was really looking forward to an upgrade, bless him."
In the conversation shared online, Rebecca told Luke: "Omg look what just got delivered. The box is huge!!! How am I supposed to hide that until Christmas?!
"Omg!!! Ignore that. I was supposed to send that to Kathie [my sister]."
Luke replied: "You best be f***ing joking."
Rebecca said: "I don't even know what to say. I'm so sorry, it was supposed to be a surprise!! I can't believe I sent it to you."
Sending a second picture of what appeared to be the console, she then added: "I've put it behind the door in the spare bedroom, [you're] not having it until Christmas mind!!"
Luke said: "Bec are you serious now I don't know what to say I really don't.
"I can't believe you sent it to me though, d***, I would [have] cried opening that aha but I'm still struggling to hold in my s*** now.
"Where how and when and what the f*** I don't know what to say."
Rebecca said: "How would I have pictures of it [in] our house if I was joking, d***."
Luke said: "F*** sake I've gone all weird haha I love you so much aye I don't deserve that though!
"An[d] how the f*** do I stay away from it for a month and not just that how the f*** do I match that for you hahaha."
Rebecca then said: "I can't, I'm weak. I'm sorry. It's a filter on Instagram!"
Luke then said: "You[re] a f***ing b*****d I'm gonna f***ing kill you honest to god.
"Now don't even speak to me you t*** I was thinking too [there's] no way but it was so believable I'm not kidding you you[re] a c*** pure k*** head.
"I don't believe it why would I fall for that. I hope you feel guilty now."
Rebecca shared the exchange online where it received more than 7,900 likes, shares and comments.
But the stay-at-home mum claims the prank was in revenge for Luke 'constantly playing pranks' on her - although admits she did feel guilty afterwards.
Rebecca said: "We will still have an amazing Christmas. Although, I don’t think Luke will be happy unwrapping a pair of socks rather than the PS5 he was expecting.
"He’s such a wind up, we’ve been together almost four years now and he’s constantly playing pranks around the house.
"Mainly jumping out on me and recording my reaction and using fake spiders to scare me. He also plays pranks on family members and friends.
"Everyone who knows Luke knows how much he loves playing pranks. Now we’ve got two young boys, he gets them involved too. I am outnumbered.
"Luke has already admitted that nothing he will do [to prank me] can top this but I know that won’t stop him. He will do everything to come up with something bigger and better.”
Luke claims he was 'gutted' when he realised he wasn't getting the PlayStation 5 - but hopes he might be able to save up and buy one in the future.
Luke, who works as a civil engineer, said: "I'm still a bit gutted about it. I'm starting to see the funny side, but obviously she had me a good one.
"I was a bit sceptical at first but then when she sent me a photo of it behind the bedroom door upstairs, that's when I believed her even more.
"She really had me going basically. I was telling everyone at work and showing them the picture of the Playstation 5 she got me. I was telling everyone about it and was properly excited.
"Obviously I said how much I love it and don't deserve it, and I couldn't believe it. She messaged me then saying she couldn't keep it going anymore and it was an Instagram filter.
"I was gutted when she made that reveal. I still didn't know if she was trying to cover her tracks or not and she had gotten me it, but then I looked on Instagram and saw it was a filter.
"It all confirmed for me then and sunk in. I had to go and tell the boys that she had me a good one. They were all in tears laughing, especially the men.
"I work alongside my uncle and he could see the excitement in me and he just couldn't stop laughing when I told him she'd pranked me.
I'm still a bit gutted about it. I'm starting to see the funny side, but obviously she had me a good one.

"I'm definitely going to plan a good revenge, it's just what. How do I top it? She's gone viral with it.
"If there was a PS5 for me at Christmas I would probably cry.
"I've had a Playstation 3 since I was 14 years old, and we haven't had the money to upgrade to a Playstation 4 or anything, so I'm really behind all my mates.
"Obviously with two young kids now as well, we're working for them and not for us anymore, but it would mean the world to me to have that."
The PlayStation 5 is released in the UK on November 12.
