Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are ’embracing every moment’ with Archie during lockdown

MEGHAN Markle and Prince Harry say they are “embracing every moment” with their one-year-old son Archie and have enjoyed the family time together. 

The Duke, 36, and Duchess, 39, of Sussex, last night hosted a Time100 chat discussing the dangers of social media, and opened up about their life in California.

Time editor-in-Chief Edward Felsenthal asked the couple how they were coping during the pandemic. 

Meghan replied: "We are trying to embrace all the quality time we get with our son and embrace every moment of his growth and development."

Harry added that they’re “good”, and said: “This is an opportunity to spend more time as a family than we probably would otherwise.”

The Duke and Duchess are currently living in an £11million mansion in Santa Barbara, California, after stepping down as senior royals in March.

The talk involved chatting with “digital” experts about improving online communities during a Time100 Talks web chat.

During the same webchat, Meghan revealed she no longer uses social media after the "bad voices" became "so loud and damaging".

However, she failed to mention that up until this year, she and her husband ran the Sussex Royal Instagram account, abandoned when the couple stepped down as senior royals.

And she told the story of a YouTube employee who suffered with PTSD because of the stress of their role.

"Can you imagine carrying that every day - it’s everyone who ends up affected by it," she said. 

"The good outweighs the bad, but goodness [me] - the bad can be so loud - the damage that happens as a result of that.

"We haven't begun to realise the legacy and effect of these platforms and the online space and what it is doing to us on a deeper level.

"We're in it now but we have a chance to get ourselves out of it."

As part of the online chats, the couple spoke to Reddit co-founder and founder of 776 Alexis Ohanian, the husband of Meghan's pal Serena Williams.

They also spoke to Rappler CEO and executive editor Maria Ressa and co-director of the UCLA Center for Critical Internet Inquiry Safiya Noble.

The chat also featured hosts of the podcast Teenager Therapy - which the couple recently appeared on.

The event is just another in a string of events the couple have been involved in over the recent few weeks - appearing on podcasts and speaking with Malala about the importance of education for girls.

Most recently, the duchess spoke at Fortune's Most Powerful Women Next Gen Virtual Summit - later accused of ripping off a Netflix documentary for her speech.

Despite living in the States for just seven months, Harry has already started swapping English words for American alternatives.
