Thrifty mum takes drastic action after her pricey plants die – so can YOU spot what’s happened?
A CRAFTY mum came up with a genius way to restore her pricey plants which kept dying - and it only cost her £3.99.
Gail Woollaston, 38, splashed out on some tall shrubs for her garden, but was fed up after they kept shrivelling up despite her best efforts.
The mum-of-two, from Birmingham, came up with a drastic way to restore them - by spray painting them green.
Gail, a nursery worker, bought a can of green paint and gave her very dead plants a makeover, making them look lush and healthy again in seconds.
The mum says her kids, Kian, 11, and Avia, 10, were in stitches over her bonkers gardening idea.
Gail shared her idea to Facebook, and said: “I thought my garden was looking a bit untidy so I decided to come up with my own solution and I think it worked!
"I am DIY obsessed - I up-cycle anything and this was going to be a fun experiment for me.
"I paid a lot of money for the plants and I didn't want to get rid of them - I had tried everything to bring them back to life but it wasn't working."
Gail headed to her local hardware store and picked up some green paint, and experimented with a few shades before she got the colour just right.
She explained: "The first time I tried it, I got the wrong paint so the plant looked too bright and fake but then I mixed two different colours together, and it turned out perfectly.
“My friends have said that they wouldn't have known any different!”
Gail said she’s going to keep spray painting any plant in her garden which dies, rather than buy a new one.
She added: “I think I might have started a trend.
“My kids are annoyed because my Facebook post has got more attention than their TikToks and I find it hilarious".
Gail added that her post received a lot of praise, with fellow un-green fingered people saying they might pinch her idea which might come in handy during the heatwave.
